De Rosa 1968-69 - $1,400 (Davis)

image 1 of 15

bicycle frame material: steel
bicycle type: road
condition: excellent
frame size: 53 cm c-t c-c
handlebar type: drop
make / manufacturer: De Rosa
serial number: NA
suspension: none (rigid)
wheel size: 700C
Hello! This is a 1968-69 De Rosa. Bought this about a year ago but I don’t have room for it now and it’s too small for me to ride. I will accept cash only and am open to offers but this is a great price for this bike. Most are in the 4000$+ range. No low balling. No refunds. Local pick up only. I also have confirmation from Christiano De Rosa, of the De Rosa Company that this is in fact a real De Rosa. The De Rosa needs a chain, tubular tires and some fine tuning and it will be on the road. This bike is very rare and hard to find and a good collectors item. The paint has some chips and scratches which is common for the age. A lot of the parts on the De Rosa are not original. Let me know if you have any questions! Good luck!

Parts:
Campagnolo Nuovo
•Rear Derailer Pat.1972
•Front Detailer
•Cranks Nuovo record diamond 6 (1976)
Shifters Nuovo Campagnolo
•Pedals Gran sports, Christophe Clips Alfredo Binda Straps
•3TTT Handel Bars and Stem
•Headset Tange levin
•Break Levers Universal
•Breaks Universal Extra Brev.
• Wheels Mavic OR10 tubular rims Campagnolo Campagnolo Super Record Low flange hubs
• Nuovo Record Bottom Bracket.
•Nuovo Record Seat post
• Italia Sprint Seat
Thankfully that’s too small for me as well, as I just got my
stimulus over here in Sacramento.

That De Rosa is a great deal!

Must be a repaint though, right?

Someone will know what this is at a glance. My guess is a Competition, but I don't see enough chrome.

Maybe a repaint with some braze-ons (cable guides and bottle bosses) but I thought all Competitions had fully sloping fork crowns.

Steal for both of these. Looks like same seller. Imagine someone c ould walk out the door $225 on both if it is. The MB is worth that alone, frankly.

That's a later made in Japan frame one, still very nice and a steal at that $ imo.

Independent Fabrication Crown Jewel - $900 (Vermont)

Independent Fabrication Crown Jewel 53 cm road bike

This is a lovingly-built steel frame by the original IF crew in 1998. Mountain biking has been my first love, so this bike has been relatively lightly ridden. Raced a bit but no crashes. No dents or dings. British racing green paint has only a couple of hard to find nicks, and seat tube has been regularly treated with Frame Saver (the rest of the tubes are sealed).

Size is 53 cm/20.9” (measurement of seat tube from center of bottom bracket to top of seat tube). Top tube length is 55cm/21.25”. Standover height is 30.5”. I am 5’6” with a 29” inseam. 16.5” chainstays. Wheelbase 39.4”.

Components:
- Ultegra Flight Deck 9-speed shifters (mismatched as one was replaced)
- Ultegra BR-6500 caliper brakes
- 3T forma handelbars - 15” wide with new Cinelli tape
- Salsa 90mm stem
- Ultegra 600 headset with Profile Design threadless stem adapter
- Wheelset: Front wheel Mavic Open Pro 32 spoke rim with Shimano 105 hub;
Rear wheel Mavic Open Pro 32 spoke rim with Ultegra hub
- New Bontrager All-weather 700cc x 27cc tires
- Ultegra derailleurs
Drivetrain (less than 100 miles):
- SRAM Apex 50/34 175mm arm crankset
- 9-speed Shimano 12-27 cassette
- 9-speed chain
Brand new Fi’zi:k Antares saddle
Thomson Elite seatpost
Look pedals (not sure of model, and a bit beat up but still work). can swap out for Shimano SPD road pedals

Includes a black water bottle cage and frame mounted pump.

Also have pair of lightly used Pearl Izumi road shoes - size EU 40/US women’s 9 - with Look cleats

Bike is in Vermont, but can drive to midpoint or Boston for serious buyer

1986 Univega Gran Sprint - $300 (FRAMINGHAM)

A wonderful light Ben Lawee lugged design Univega Gran Sprint 12-speed Chromoly triple butted frame tubes with Chromoly chain stays, bike in great condition for its vintage. It glides down the road like a ninja, and is one of the smoothest bikes I've ridden from this vintage. A bit of oxidation here and there(and some paint marks), but otherwise a great rider. Mangalight forks, Suntour index shifters on the downtube. Diacompe brakes, SR Signature cranks, Suntour Sprint 900 derallieurs. Brand new Continental gatorskin tires, and new bar tape as well.

Univega Bike
$150

Details
  • Condition
    Used - Fair
  • Brand
    Univega
This Univega Sport used to be one of the best road bikes in the 1980s. The bike is a 16-speed that relies on gear levers for shifting. Gatorskin tires will help you avoid flats. Recently replaced handlebar tape and brake pads. The seat needs replacing and so does the fork, which is why I am listing it at such a discount. Best for someone between 5'8" and 6'0".
