A early 90s Hybrid Via Montega I picked up for $40 needed a rear spoke and some shifting help but a nice deal. It was my clunker challenge bike. This is as found I have since updated cassette chain and grips

roccobike had some misinformation about the relation between Raliegh and Nishiki.
Ben Lawee owned the importers Lawee Inc. which owned the name Univega
Mitch Weiner and Cozy Yamaguchi owned the importers Western States Imports
which owned the names Centurion and DiamondBack
Herb Cohen owned the importers West Coast Cycles which owned the name Nishiki
and later distributed bikes made for Raliegh USA which had no relationship with
Ti Raliegh

I placed it 1993 due to the Power oval tube sticker and the Shimano 400 CX group which I think was one year only.

Idk what kind of univega bike I bought it

It was spray painted was clearing out some ones property and asked the guy I charge about a bike half hanging out buried under some sheet metal he said 10 bucks it's yours take it home with you I said bet picked it up it was super light back rim was bent but got it home used acetone to try and get the spray paint off see what I had and it worked to well a saw univega and by the next passing it was gone so I'm going to see if this bike belongs to anyone going to check see if it's in a data base

The 1980 Gran Premio rides so good. This one I decided to moderately updated with Cyclone 7000 long cage and triple front derailleur now gives me the gearing range for steep grade. Slightly upgraded with Aero Comp levers with Gran Compe II calipers. The Araya rim and Suntour hubs have been replaced with Matrix rims on Specialized hubs that I built up myself. I put the tape to bars a couple of days

I bought and sold and bought a second time, now it's built back better...
