Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

I'm not aware of a Suntour "Bike" however as a component manufacturer they were no.1 from the early 60's till 1984, when their key patent expired. The design of almost every derailer you see today is derived from Suntour's original "slant parrallelagram" design patent.
Could you provide pic's of the frame in question?

and yes suntour made some nice components in it's day. The cyclone rear deraileur is light and worked pretty good. I rode a campy equipped bike of the same era and don't get why campy is so highly regarded. Thanks

Are you trading a working Cannondale with gears for the above converted clown bike?

Need much more information on the level/quality of both bicycles, as well as knowing how many bikes you own, what kind of riding, et cetera...

Some people have a pet peeve related to talking about SS/FGs in the road forum, but hey, that chain is a nice blue color...

Provide a pic of your Cannondale...However, I'm thinking you should hold onto it.

That doesn't appear to be an entry level bike. The dropouts are forged, not stamped unless may eyes deceive me, and the long-point lugs were generally not used on entry, or even many mid-level bikes. Might have Suntour dropouts, which is why the seller thinks it a Suntour bike. Unfortunately for ID purposes many builders even outside Japan used Suntour drops. That's also a replacement fork, and although the frame may indeed have been a good bike, and in the interest of full disclosure I own vintage bikes, a single-speed and a fixed-gear, but I wouldn't trade a working geared Cannondale for that.

Edit: It doesn't even have a seat binder bolt. Probably has too large a seatpost jammed in there.
Edit2: Cheap saddle clamp and seatpost, too
