My new Raleigh Carlton Super Course Mark II
Just showing off 😊 I bought this bike last week in NC, where I live. It was made in Worksop, England, near Sheffield, where my daughter lives. Still had the original tires and brake pads on it. She’s a sweet ride. Someone swiped the Brooks off her before she got to me, darn it.

Those look just like the Bluemels mudguards I hung on my white Puch in 1978! Lovely Super Course, and you may want to post in the Show us your Raleigh Super Course thread.

congratulations on this most excellent find
its terrific that you found one which is so original and in such fine condition
more commonly that have had fittings changed out and/or have been subjected to hard use/abuse

SC MkII, my first "real" bike. My heart goes pitter patter when I see one in red like yours, great score!

Nice machine -- those were very popular when I was at university. Is that a Nervar crankset with the same 128mm BCD as my aluminum Nervar Stars? I never did understand why Nervar had to make up their own standard instead of using 130mm, or at least copying Stronglight's 122mm.

Wait, you went on a multi-day tour without a dedicated touring bike?! Sacre bleu!

For example, look how overloaded the rear of the bike is, and the tiny handlebar bag.

JK... very nice machine and well appointed still. Look at the curve on those brake levers!

Looks like 1974 or 1975. I have one of the green and white versions, but I lucked out with the upgraded Stronglight 93 crankset. Great ride and shockingly light too. Mine weighed in (after ditching the Atom 440 pedals for Olympics from Spain and Suntour Cyclone derailleurs for that Huret Challenger set) at less than 24lbs!

tarmusic great to see you posting again! I'm about to retire, so no excuses not to meet up at some point (after the pandemic subsides).
