What Tour-ey Bike is This?
It has no decals in the pictures, doesn't have cantilevers, Champion 2, maybe 2 sets of bottle bosses on down tube, sloping fork crown.

I'm not sure exactly what it is. However, the derailleur cables routed over the BB shell, in conjuction top tube brake cable tunnels and an absence of shift levers bosses suggest circa 1983-1984 and endless band, top mount, SunTour shifters. SunTour is the normal pairing for the Dia-Compe brakeset. Bottle bosses above and below the down tube, in conjuction with dual dropout eyelets does suggest a light touring model. Overall, it's reminiscent of an early Sequoia, though there are costs concessions such as the lack of chrome and stay eyelets for a rear rack, etc. If you can get the serial number, that may help.

I don't know about getting the serial number. I'd probably have to go check it out to get the serial, and that might lead to making an offer and taking it home...
Champion 2 does appeal to me because I'm overweight. The light touring aspect is also very nice, since I'll probably never actually go on an actual tour. Non cantilever brakes sounds easier to adjust than cantis as well.
It doesn't look like any tourer I'm familiar with, like the Miyatas or Nishikis. I have seen that kind of fork crown in pics of Centurions, Norco (ST), and Apollos.(Gran Tourist/e).
It's priced a little higher than I'd like, but not bad for the area. Not too far from me either. I'd better stop now before I talk myself into it.

Looks like a Specialized Sequoia from that era. But the tubing sticker is wrong for that.

If it's Sequoia I'd like to have it. But as you say the sticker isn't correct, and neither does the fork look like it's apt for a Sequoia. Still it does look suspiciously like good steel. I'll let it percolate a bit and if it's still around and my curiosity gets the better of me I might go check it out this weekend.

It lacks the brake bridge reinforcers and opposing rack mounts of an early Sequoia. The fork crown is more sloped too, like an early Lotus Odyssey, but other features dont match. Sorry- that's all I got.

Well I looked at the show your lotus thread, and those Lotus sure are pretty. But I didn't see one that looked like the one I'm inquiring about.
I'll have a gander at the show your japanese touring bikes and possibly the show your vintage touring bike threads. Maybe I'll see something that matches.
