Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Sometimes, the algorithms get it wrong. Lately, the Google feed has been pushing the cycling-shorts-as-leisure-wear trend on me.

yah... for some reason I can’t get out the door by 5:30, even if I’m up at 4:45. Don’t get me wrong, I’m happy to be out riding regardless, would just prefer more time in the saddle per week. It seems something always comes up to scrap my longer weekend rides.

Here too. There have been stories on the news about how it's happening all over. Showed a blind veteran who's service dog would hide when the explosions start leaving him with no help. Lots of stories about vets with PTSD trying to cope with nightly war sounds.

There seems to be 3 main offenders in my area, the ones with the pro-level skyrockets. You know, the ones when they launch there is a loud, deep "whump" sound and then when they explode it echoes for 2-3 seconds, rattling windows and setting off car alarms.

I don't understand what they get out of it, especially after weeks on end.

Wait, for men? I’d seen the women’s version (which isn’t much of a departure from current anyway), but hadn’t seen the men’s version.

No - it's been women's. I don't think that it's a thing for men... but what would I know?

I saw that, but it’s so hard for me to accept buying a branded open mould wheel compared to just going to LightBicycle directly. The Rail52 was interesting because it was unique.

I mean, in all honesty I don’t need a thing more than the Jet6+ I have. And would rather hang on to money to move to Lanceville.

Well advertising women’s clothes to you is probably a mistarget anyway. However, those are not really bike shorts I think, just longer boogie shorts. Most people have no idea what bike shorts actually are.

Ah - no, I'm not seeing ads, per se. These are fashion articles that are popping up in my news feed, presumably because of searches/browsing history for cycling specific clothing.

I’m getting mountain bike shoe ads. I particularly like the ad from Competitive Cyclist for a wide Lake shoe. I may go beyond “tempted” status.

The only site I have whitelisted on Adblock is Wunderground - it cracks me up when I've been working on proposals for my job and the banner ads are all for either TW Metals or Onlinemetals.

Nothing quite as exciting as raw metal bar stock!

I agree with most of that. You get a November build as opposed to a LB build, and it can be RIGHT NOW as opposed to whatever shipping method is the slowest. I like White hubs, though I do have a set of American Classics burning a hole in my toolbox... Those may go with the soon eliminated HED alloy rim offering... So much to do.

Of course, this is likely fogged out rambling, as Georgia-Mae and Lotus like the squeaky toy action at 3 am, along with the fireworks til midnight.

My wife has told me ever since we met how she's always wanted to learn to weld.

I'm hoping that once we buy a house a welder and OA torch setup will show up as well.

At least the welder. I mean, if I have an opportunity to get a welder with the explicit approval of and excitement from the wife, that's basically striking gold.
