Hello,

Our family heading to Maine this weekend and I will have some time for a ride one day, probably Saturday since that looks like the only nice weather. Can anyone suggest routes around Portland and/or Ogunquit?

I've had some great rides up around Brunswick, required zero planning. Just hug the coast and follow the road. In your case you might want to start away from Portland, want to be a bit more rural. GPS to get home can be a big bonus, depending on what kinda milage you're looking at. Most memorable was when I was training for a century at the time, so did about 30 miles of coastal, then a big ccw loop to the north for another 65 with big roller hills. Lots of lobstermen going out just after sunrise. Last leg south back to Brunswick was long big roller hills. Never saw a dead porcupine before. Or since. Those smaller state roads are usually pretty good riding if you decide to cruise inland (like 3-digit route numbers); I found the shoulders to be wide enough and the asphalt pretty smooth.

There's the Lighthouse Loop, which goes around the South Portland area. There's a nice ride that goes around the Kport area, and another one that goes around the Kittery area.

We often go to Reds soft serve after the Lighthouse ride and have a coffee shake made with chocolate softserve.

Gonna add one more, this is mine.

Park in Portland and take the ferry to Baileys island, and then ride up to Brunswick, and have lunch with the family. We used to make it a loop, and ride back to Portland, which is also an option.

Bunch of good restaurants in Brunswick, there's a nice sandwich place at the station. We like Little Tokyo.
