The Lost League
Does anyone remember where this logo came from? (aside from Miami, thanks)
If you DO remember it, do you have any good stories to tell?

OK, several days have passed with no responses, so I'll give away the answer:
The National Cycle League.
It was a short-lived attempt at creating cycling as a city-based league.
It was a half-baked attempt administered by a largely incompetent NFL cast-off commissioner and several misguided owners.
I came across the Miami Wave t-shirt while cleaning out a closet. I had hoped that some readers of this board would have stories/insight.
Maybe it's best to bury it in the backyard.

You're right.
I'm just hearing the old adage "those who forget the past are destined to repeat it"
Actually, I was hoping to comiserate with other NCL brothers.

Their biggest year was 1994 when they had all of their races on ESPN 2
They had a all of the top racers on their teams, but they only had to commit to a couple of races, so they could continue to ride with their trade teams.
The finals were held in Monte Carlo!
Then they lost all their money, the commissioner was an IDIOT, and they hardly did anything in 1995. It was a pretty cool idea, but poorly executed. And now the concept will never take off because of it.
Let me see if I can list the teams and their notable rider:
Miami Wave - Carl Sundquist
Houston Outlaws - Alan McCormack
Tulsa (spelled backwards = "A ****" - the riders taught us that one)
Boston Banshees- Frank and Mark McCormack
N.Y. Ghosts - Mike McCarthy?
San Diego -
L.A.Wings - Kurt Stockton
Portland Thunder - Robby Ventura
S.F. Shakers - Thurlow Rogers
Amsterdam Tigers - Pete Pieters
London Lancers
Milan Forza
Pittsburgh Power - Jeff Rutter

I don't see Roberto Gaggiolli or Graeme Miller on that list....they'd have to have been starters from memory.

I ride with a guy that talks about this attempt. I think he might have participated.
And it might be a record, but actually interesting.

I remember they had a race in New York City down Seventh Avenue and around the streets in the Village. I was there, and if I remember correctly, there were quite a few spectators. The New York Times even covered it on the front page of their sports section.
