I had to add a washer to the Tange Seiki Vantage headset. No wonder the bearings were crushed.

So far, so good. Looking nice.
Not really liking the look of the stem, but it's a Coda. Oh well.

I ended up putting on a simple Origin8 quill stem to sell it, but if i had kept it I would probably have put a nice Nitto quill on, or a threaded/threadless adapter and used a modern 31.8 stem & handlebar.

I think what I'd do is stick with the CODA until the bike is built up, use it do figure out your bar height and reach, and THEN go with one of the more stylish 3T or Cinelli stems - in keeping with the whole Cipollini aspect. Then maybe a 3T Forma bar, if you like the 'anatomical' style drops. Or a Soma Highway One. I have them on 3 of my bikes. Looks great, feels nice, and comes in 26.0 clamp size. It's a little anachronistic, but once you wrap it, who'll know?

It's anachronistic, but you can never, Never go wrong with a Cinelli 1A and a set of 64s (Giro d'Italia).

I guess I'm in the minority with regard to the stem. I actually like the Coda - especially on a Cannondale with OS tubing. Sometimes a skinny stem looks proportionally wrong on those bikes. Ultimately up to you

with that said, Nitto does make a classy quill adapter for threadless stems if you decide to go that route.

I reckon a good departure from period spec would be the totally sweet threaded to threadless adapter headset one of the members here came up with, always forget his name. Then you can use a modern stem with 31.8 bars, which would really help this thing get up and boogie when you stand on it.
The adapter I speak of totally craps all over your standard quill to threadless adapter; it's almost as nice as using a threadless 1" fork and shim.

I had a CAAD3 road bike and two different MTB's. Cannondale frames were so sweet when they were handmade in the USA. The Chinese Cannondale's have huge ugly welds. I don't even consider it to be the same company anymore.

Newer ones are okay and I still have a couple, but the USA ones are the best!
