CenterPull Brake difference?

Today I noticed that 2 DiaCompe brakes had a bit of difference. The long arm ones seem to have "pin" and groove. But not the shorter arm ones.

If you look between the brake arms you will see one has a "pin" .

Many Dia Compe brake calipers from the 1970s were copies of Weinmann (and I believe the two companies had an agreement of sorts back then). Weinmann 999s (both the 610 and the 750) had the plastic capped "finger" between the two arms. It was an effort to link the two arms in movement. The early DC center pulls didn't have this finger, later ones do. Some will say this finger is of no use. I like it and if I were to run DC center pulls again (well, they are on my rarely used 1975 Fuji Finest, w/o the fingers) I would seek out the calipers with the fingers. Stopping power is the same either version (w/ or w/o fingers).

There might be a date code on the backside of these calipers. Andy
