Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

And speaking of projects, I just pulled a Claud Butler out of the car---belongs to a friend of the wife's. It's a good thing I no longer have a camera(I apparently sat on it). I wouldn't know where to begin. Sad! It's here for a refurb. I don't know when to begin. Sad!!

You don't need to clean your chain? You don't need to clean your chainrings, cassette, or jockey wheels? You don't need to clean black smudges from fingers and calves when there's incidental contact? I've tried "occasional oiling of the chain" - it sucked.

Shockingly, it seems that we live in different conditions, ride bikes in different manners, and have different best fit solutions.

Shockingly true!
I have long considered that if I ever get a tattoo, it will be a half chainring print on the inside of my right calf.

Though it has recently occurred to me that I wouldn't be so tired at the ends of my longer rides if my drivetrain was clean(er).

Booster has me down. TheraFlu. The cornerstone of any nutritious breakfast. Even my arm is sore, which did not happen with I & II. Might be the day to finally organize some of my recipe collection.

Got 8-10 inches of snow overnight. Spent almost two hours shoveling this morning - fun times. Gotta digest breakfast and get my ass on the trainer since I didn't Strava the shoveling to count it towards my CTL.

Good friend of mine posted this on FB today. I swear, as strange as this may seem, this is real, and one day you will get there.

Warm but windy and damp ride in. Beats Zwift by a couple orders of magnitude.

If by damp you meant sheets of rain coming down. Cycling activities today were canceled.

The farm where we were supposed to have our company party this evening canceled. Heated party tents and 60 mph wind gusts don’t play nice together.
