Me, too.

As a former editor, I have long believed that correct spelling isn't so much a learned skill as a sort of mental trick that comes naturally to some people, and not at all to others. As far as I can see, it's independent of education and general intelligence. The Campagnolo/Campagnola divide is evidence of that, I think.

On the other hand, those who believe in Campagolo frames are just idiots.

I remember being told by someone or other decades ago that Franco nationalized a number of factories owned by foreign companies, including Campagnolo, and that that explains why Zeus components manufactured in the late '60s and into the '70s look like crude versions of Campagnolo components (e.g., the Zeus rear derailleur that's identical to the steel Campagnolo Record derailleur).

Maybe something similar happened in China and India, where ex-Raleigh factories kept churning out bikes for half a century.

I meant that it makes fewer bidders on particular items!

But I agree with everything else. Except I have not seen a Campagola frame either...

Back in the 70's I was given this as an explanation for the Zeus bicycle with "Zeus" parts a friend purchased.

I'm kind of slow on the uptake. I had not understood your point at first, probably because I don't have any bikes with Campagnolo parts. I have sometimes seen the misspelling "Shamano," but there seems to come in a very distant second to "Campagnola. " I just checked ebay, and there are something like 20,000 Campagnolo parts for sale, and around 600 "Campagnola" parts. On the other hand, there are over 200,000 Shimano items, and only 11 "Shamano" items, mostly fishing-related.

I mostly buy Stronglight, Simplex, and Suntour parts, none of which have any obvious misspellings. Darn it.

EDIT: Good lord, I see that I did type "Campagola" on the first go-around. Thereby demonstrating my point, I guess, that I'm not much of a Campagnolo consumer.

Haha! I tried Campagola. Not a single one that was bike related.

Try Simplax~
