Scrod:
What do you think of the Scrambler v3 as a SSCX? The buyer reviews seem to suggest you can fit some decently sized tires in there and that it's relatively light weight.

I wouldn't want to race cross without canti breaks personally, but you might be able to get away with it. I would just spend more money and get a crosscheck (i think thats the one with the horizontal dropouts) and just run it ss.

If you want an sscx why not get one? There are plenty of choices out there.

Ah, I guess I was being cheap. And vain (I really love that raw look). Okay, thanks guys. You're right.

Hmm.... The On-One Pompino looks pretty good too.

I just need the frameset, but I suppose I could just buy a complete bike from BD and sell off the parts or donate them to the Bike Kitchen.

This shouldn't even be a question; I'm pretty sure we all know the outcome of that one.

my 725. but a friend bought a bike today and asked me to take it for a spin for some reason (she bought it off CL) and it reminded me of that situation. I wondered how scrod would've handled it.

When and if you go bowling, is it candlepin or normal style?

I'd start off by telling them nicely to stop (once) and if they didn't, I'd have no trouble putting tears in their eyes one way or another.

Candlepin bowling is a tri-state New England (MA, NH and ME) thing originally introduced by the Canadians and uses smaller pins and balls than traditional ten pin bowling. It's not typically found in other parts of the country.

Didn't even know that you could find that anywhere in the states. I used to see it when I visited my wife (then girlfriend) at her parent's house. At first I thought it was some sort of skeeball-on-steroids meant for kids.
