Platform

Has anyone made a platform for their bike and trainer that is on wheels. I’m looking to make something like that so I can move it out of the way when not in use. Any ideas?

thanks
Brian

What trainer?
I made a rocker plate for mine that could have wheels added to it. But I have a bike that only gets ridden on it, and there's no place to roll it.

I guess it would somewhat depend on what type of flooring it's on. Carpet? Use furniture sliders. Anything hard (wood, vinyl, ceramic tile) they sell furniture glides (basically, felt pads.)

Though I think he was looking for the full Bike + Trainer setup to be movable as a single unit. Eg. maybe a piece of 3' x 6' plywood with furniture glides underneath?

I have my trainer attached to my rocker plate. When I need to move it, it's not a big deal to slide the plate, trainer, and bike together. The front wheel just comes off the riser and rolls. Moving the riser isn't really an issue.

Let me clear this up. I want a platform to put my Kickr and climb on so when not in use I can move out from in front of the tv. I don’t want to take anything apart to move it. I have an idea but I am just looking for ideas from anyone who has made one.

thanks

haven't made one.. but perhaps google mobile stages.. you can probably put a couple 3' x 3' platforms together with caster wheels
eg.. start with this maybe but cut the item counts in half? not cheap though..

if I was going to buy something, I would get a mobile machine base. There are some that are the size of a trainer and bike. I have seen people say the Bora* ones are okay. https://boratool.com/products/mobile-bases.html

*It's not Peter Sagan's old sponsor, as far as I can tell.

When I was using rollers, I made what was essentially a really large dolly. It ran in tracks on a piece of plywood (with exercise bands on each end to provide tension). It had a duel purpose of giving fore and aft motion while riding to make the experience more realistic and gave me the ability to roll it back from the computer when we wanted to use it for other things (the plywood with the tracks was hinged in the middle to fold up). When I got a projector, built a second computer, and moved the whole setup to the basement, the ability to tear it down/move it wasn't as big of a deal, but it worked well until I got a smart trainer. Unfortunately, I didn't build the dolly wide enough that I feel comfortable putting a rocker plate on it, or I'd still use it for fore/aft motion.
