New Disney movie-- what bike logo is this?

There is a new Disney/Pixar movie called "Luca" on Disney+.

Takes place in Italy. Italian director. One plot element is a triathlon/bike race.

Did they use a Schwinn logo?!

It bears a passing resemblance, but I doubt it's intentional. I'm sure that any studio is very careful about any logos that show up in a movie scene.

I'll be darned if those brake levers don't look like Mafacs with the full hoods.

Schwinn, just different enough to avoid lawyers. That's got to be intentionally taking the p*ss. Reminds me of a screenshot I saw from Mulan which had a rocket with "danger" written in simplified characters. No way that whoever took the time to put that in didn't know that simplified wouldn't exist for another 1700 years. Similarly, a bike racer from the land of Cinelli, Colnago, and Bianchi? Gotta ride a Schwinn.

...but there is no way in the world, those hands are letting go of those bars with the grip the rider must possess!

At least the bike looks to be steel, not carbon. That's progress, right?

Looks like Nervar lugs and fork crown...though it could be an early Japanese version.

I think it's just made to look like others from the vintage era. You could say it looks like a crescent headbadge with the colors reversed.

Here you go. I'm sure you can find some that look similar.

Eine Varsity? Bist du kidding mer Hans?

A nod to an old cycling rag whose name escapes me now. A contributing editor was Chuck U. Farley if that rings a bell.

Yep, and he clacked with the then USCF, then got on the board and behaved in a way similar as to his original complaint.
