Carlton identification help please

I just purchased this Carlton frame. Can anyone help identify what year and model it is from these pictures? The serial number is WA9005143 so as far as I can figure maybe 1969??? From Worksop January? I think is fairly close but would like someone elses input. Any idea of model? I would like to re-decal and add the contrasting colors if needed but want to make sure I make it reasonably correct for the year.

Are you sure? I thought everyone had rear derailleur mounts by then and had stopped useing the fork mounted headlight.

Not in England! My 1979 Mercian Campionissimo (another basic model of the time) is a very similar frame with the same lug set and dropouts but in fully butted 531. Golden Age Cycles is good people to work with, so I'm sure your frame will arrive in great condition - but yes, it's definitely a later model sporting a rather dated appearance.

Yes I’m sure. This serial number format began in late 1973. Bike also has a 70s head badge.

I bought a 46 Bates BAR from them, they are great to deal with.

All stripped down and ready to rebuild.

I am a one-hit wonder when it comes to Carltons (see signature), and very new to the marque, but the seat post diameter may help us narrow down the range of models a bit.
Here is what my 1962 FrancoSuisse looks like:

Its using Raleigh's numbering system, so post 1973. With the wrapover seatstays and lug design, it looks like the Cobra or Cyclone - lower end but a nice ride. Have you weighed it?

I have a Cobra; it's all chrome, has pump pegs, no brake cable top-tube bits, no rear brake seat-stay stop, a front mech cable stop on the down-tube, different lugs, and a different bridge:

Also has 26tpi so if he has something else perhaps a good thing.

It's most likely a Carlton Corsa. Look up the model on Google Images and you'll see many a match for all of the details on your frame. Cheers!

I think you're right it's pretty spot-on. Only mine doesn't have the chrome fork socks, but they could have easily been painted over.

Yeah, I want to say that based on the fact that the paint looks pretty good despite there being no decals, it's probably been repainted in the past. There's also hardly any wear on the dropouts, suggesting it may never have been built up since the restoration... Covering the old chrome seems most likely in this case.

Can anyone enlighten me regarding the use of 24 vs 26tpi in various Carlton models and years? Fortunately, my Carlton has a 24tpi / standard ISO BB shell, but evidently even some newer Carltons had 26tpi, which I would have assumed was already obsolete by the time mine was manufactured.
