Sterling discovery sport mtb 1990’s

Hello friends,
I have found a sterling discovery sport in good condition. The color is very unique because when the suns hits it reflects a purple color. It has shimano exige country components with araya rims. I payed $100 but I think I payed too much. Needs new cables and paint is scratched.

I would say late 80s not 90's but a pretty good deal for a $100 if the Araya dimpled rims & hubs are good. it should be good buy. While not high end the exchage components are pretty good. and it has a decent MTB hard frame which you can't really go wrong on if your buying it as a rider builder.

I appreciate the help and prompt response. I think the rear rims had the axle replaced because it’s nut and bolt. Runs good and shifts good.

This Sterling was part of Univega. They mostly used the name for their kids bikes but made a few nice ATBs and hybrids.

cool “Smoke” paint.

cool paint.
I really like the look of the two tone Chameleon paint also it highlights the nice welds and wishbone rear chain stay nicely.
