Hey guys,

When i'm exerting a whole lot of force on my pedals (climbing) I feel on the upstroke (both sides) a click and some movement upwards in the cleat. I'm not sure if it always happens, could just be that i'm not pulling hard enough sometimes but i will keep checking.
The pedals are new Look Keo Carbon (from probikekit, but i hope they're still kosher) and my shoes are entrance level Sidi's from a year or two ago (they're the rare model with straps that go inward - the dumbest idea ever and the only such model i've seen - cutting them down was the only solution i could come up with since they hit the crank as the leather stretched and they got too long).
Anyway, I'm wondering whether anyone else has come along this phenomenon with the LOOK Keo's, otherwise I'm going to assume it's the connection between the cleats and the shoe plate that's giving. I haven't been able to make the cleats move from the shoe off the bike because it's hard to get enough force on them.
Any help would be much appreciated, thanks.

Have you tried tightening the bolts holding the cleats to the shoes?
Presumably you have keo pedals AND cleats? I.e. they match.

yeah i tightened em until the bolts were getting stripped.. thanks tho

You also need to tell us what cleats you are using and if you've upped the release tension to maximum on your pedal. A click could honestly come from anywhere on your bike.

why exactly? they're just tight. I'm using the grey (with teflon) keo cleats. also, it's not an audible click - i feel it in my feet when i pull up, so i don't think it could be anything but the interaction with the pedal/cleat/shoe unless it's in the crank which would not happen logically only when pulling up. the tension on the pedal is not all the way up - i believe that controls only the tightness when clicking in/out. any more ideas?

If the machine screw has been stripped the the machine screw (bolt) is stuffed and more than likely so are the shoe threads. The machine screws holding the cleats to the shoe won't and can't stay tight.

Never ever ever never over tighten anything. All you do is stuff it.

this said this only applies if the machine screws are stripped.

well the threads aren't stripped, and the heads only a little bit - i can the bolts out if i need. I just meant to say they're definitely not loose...

The cleat screws (bolts) may be too long, so they are bottoming out in the shoe before the cleat is fully tightened.

Try adding a washer and see if it still happens.
