the indoor heat really got to me today, only got halfway through my 3x23 sweet spot workout. It was 74 degrees inside when I started, so I figured it would get rough. Taking a break but will do some z2 to round out my day

Went to Crit Practice for the first time in year but only sat in for maybe a half a lap; pace was too much for me if I want to do well this weekend so I more or less just wanted to hit my calorie numbers.

There's a 70 miles gravel ride on Saturday I should do but the people running it are hitters and they'll drop me so hard. I'm still new enough at gravel I'm just too cautious and slow. NGL, going over the bars and hitting my head 10 miles into the forest a weeks ago with no one around was scary. Not like scared scared more of a; I dont know if I can ride my bike, I'm dizzy, and there's no cell coverage so theres a small chance I may die scary.

i unlocked sweetspot godmode with trainerroad lol I did a sweet spot workout classified as a level 10, which was 3x30 @ 92%, I did lower the last one to 90%. The adaptive training plan has this again for me next Saturday, I can't tell you how overjoyed I am lol

Just started a 70 km Z race, 7 starters, we're rolling 3.0-3.5.... gonna get caught by the Bs lol. This should be interesting.

So I got second in the A's. Some dude attacked the first mini climb out of the desert and solo'd the whole 1:45 duration at around 4.5 w/kg avg.... yeah... The rest of the group was pretty tame until this dude (Dykus) lit it up going through Titan's backwards, and I was the only one to follow; he had me a bit spooked TBH. He and I traded blows trying to attack each other and slowing back to 3.0 for the last 10 mi or so of the race, was a lot of fun. Looks like I had more legs in the sprint. We were really evenly matched.

Interestingly enough, our times were 90s or so slower than the B's, who had a big field with big pack speeds. I guess they kept us separate on the map, I was expecting us to get caught the way that first half went.

Posting on bikeforums during a race. Definitely a pro move.

Did a mellow trainer ride. Checked out the scenery on the new Zwift island.

90 degrees last weekend and over 90 and humid on Wednesday to...50 degrees and raining today. So, 3.5 hours on Zwift and watching the Giro.

Went old school with a fluid trainer today, I didn’t bring my Hammer to my parents as I generally do, wanted to experiment with bringing something lightweight and maybe keep it here. My workout wasn’t sensitive to erg mode so I figured it wouldn’t be awful. It wasn’t perfect but it wasn’t bad and I was able to hit the power I wanted to pretty easily. I have a kinetic but the trainer I brought was an older elite primo which relies on rider weight to maintain tension on the roller so stuff like standing out of the saddle was a bit goofy but all in all not terrible. Still prefer my fancy trainer and erg mode lol

just one more week of ssb2 hv!

Team group ride up Oak Glen. I was feeling pretty good so I stayed with the leader and it was just us for most of the ride. He basically slowed down to help me up, like Sepp Kuss and Primoz. I averaged about 4.5 w/kg for 30 minutes, which because pros go up it every year is no where close to fast, but when I sort by age group I'm the fastest, so that's something!

Sounds like me earlier this week. Riding my bike on Zwift while watching people ride their bikes on my TV. It's really wonderfully distracting on a long ride as the lack of activity on the race isn't really a big deal. Plus, I spent more time just looking at all that great Italian scenery than thinking about my riding.

230w np and 220w ap for 3:15 today. Chose a solo hilly route, still broke 20mph at 66ft per mile. Lots of KJ's fueled by a cafe' stop and a Belgian bar for a snack.

I totally get that group rides and hills and curves don't mix, but man is Z1 and really low Z2 boring AF for 3 hours in a paceline on really straight and flattish routes. I really like having corners.

I on purpose tossed in a couple of 20sec long 20% grade little leg breakers in there.

Somehow, about the best I've ever felt doing more than a metric century.

Fiesta TTT 20K on TT bike, 2.5 hour endurance ride on road bike and 2xkilos at San Diego Velodrome on pursuit bike along with two 1/2 lap standing starts. That rounded our my holiday weekend along with some gym work. Back to Fiesta tomorrow for more time trial bike work.

I threw in attending a block party at our neighborhood. The party was outdoors but it seemed almost normal. I met some new neighbors and fielded the questions about my cycling and bikes. And there were a few golfers so we exchanged some ideas about courses and maybe go out for a round. There was a guy, not in our neighborhood, but was there as a guest, who rode his bike 106 miles a couple of days ago. He is a player.

Second Pfizer shot Sunday afternoon. Mondays are normally a day off the bike but felt good and even my WHOOP agreed. Today was like after the first shot, where my WHOOP recovery metrics dropped, but not as much as they did after the first, and still felt good. This is my recovery week and we planned for a couple of easy days for Tuesday/Wednesday (usually do some kind of intervals on Tuesday) just to be sure since most of the anecdotal evidence says that even if you feel good, if you push it too soon, some fatigue may linger. That meant today was 90' of Z2 on the TT bike on Zwift.

Did a super fun group race simulation ride Sunday, followed by 2 1/2 hours averaging Z2, but with some hard efforts up hills feeling great. This was sandwiched between two leisurely paddles in the kayak Saturday and Monday to make for a great weekend. Now rest another day today before I race tomorrow for the first time in 17 months or so.

Good Worlds last night. PR'd the full gas part of the route on what turned out to be a smokin fast edition.

Last week I did too much leading up to, and into, the 5 minute climb which is about a 3rd of the way into the loop and got gapped off. This week I was a little more judicious going in. The young Cat 1ish types have me scrambling when they really decide to turn the screws, otherwise I'm in there, and even animating, if I pick my spots.

I've got 3/4 crits on Thursday and Saturday nights. I'm looking for redemption of my shocking 4 lap exhibition on the first one I did last week (chalk it up to first race in a while...).

Took it easy for World's last night, I stayed with a slower group and just pulled them up the hill. When they started to pop, I'd slow down. At the end they were all genuinely thanking me which felt really good.

Feeling a lot better now. I don't know if it was the Valtrex, the Prednisone, or maybe I just had a pretty mild case. I've been able to do some pretty mild rides. This morning before work I was able to do a decent sweet spot workout for an hour and I actually feel pretty fine. Considering myself lucky.

My TR plan had me doing 2x30 @ 95% and I was convinced it would be bad news considering my basement temp is 75 degrees and even doing stuff at 92% at that temp is tough for me. So I picked a "harder" workout of 3x30 @ 90% and I was surprised at how easy it felt in the indoor conditions I have today. So I'm feeling good about that

24min of under/over up on Zwift climb during a 90min ride. Rained heavy all day here, weeknight worlds cancelled. Didn't care for the TP data. I was a delta of 40 to 50w on the surges but the NP matched the AP for the set. The NP should have been above the AP. Maybe the calc doesn't work great on zoomed in data.
