Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

I agree those little pumps are a pain, but they DO work, especially the ones with a hose. I prefer to use C02 when in a group because everyone's time is wasted if you are messing with a pump. But if by myself or if C02 failure, it's nice to have a pump just in case. Beats the call of shame.

I always use co2 with the pump as a back-up. Last year I flatted on a group ride and I had to turn back alone and of course I had a second flat. I only had one tube so I had to patch. The pump made it possible for me to find the leak in the tube.

Another time I was dropped on a climb and flatted and my old co2 inflater fell apart. Luckily I had the pump.

In ancient history I always carried a Zefal frame pump. One time I knocked it off with my knee when going through an intersection. I parked the bike and started walking back to get it from the crosswalk where it landed. A woman in a car had been waiting for the green light and saw the whole thing. She looked at me and then ran right over my pump.

That's my philosophy, especially when the call of shame is to a cab company or Uber from an indescribable location in the outer limits of the suburbs at 1400 hrs on a chilly Tuesday.

I hear mixed reviews on the shifting of Rotor aero rings and Praxis only does aero rings in 130BCD.

On the walk today, I passed by a church and saw their group of preschoolers romping on the playground. WTF?

About 2 minutes later, I heard what sounded like a wheezy, old, yappy little dog barking at me from the window of an approaching car. Nope. It was some grungy, long-haired kid hanging out of the window barking while filming with his cell phone. WTF?

On my ride yesterday I saw about 20 kids in the playground at a day care center.
When I got close to home there were people selling face masks for $5 on a street corner. I didn't stop to check them out.

I was under the impression that schools, preschool and daycares were shut down. I was also under the impression that, even if they weren't shut down, parents of preschoolers would know better based on the number of illness that these kids bring home over the course of the year.

That's totally acceptable and the 6800 rings would, indeed, look like stool.

They just don't think, especially when thinking might lead to inconvenience. People here are really taking things quite seriously and doing a great job, but the free-range kids are where I see the most breakdown of isolation.

My brother chews very rapidly and vigorously while breathing stertorously through his nose. My soon to be son in law lowers his head to within six inches of his plate to—what—keep his shirt clean? My mother in law, may she rest in peace, used to backstop elusive morsels of food onto her fork, oh so decorously, with her fingers. Stuff just kills me.
