Fenders on lightweight gravel bike?

Notices
Cyclocross and Gravelbiking (Recreational) This has to be the most physically intense sport ever invented. It's high speed bicycle racing on a short off road course or riding the off pavement rides on gravel like : "Unbound Gravel". We also have a dedicated Racing forum for the Cyclocross Hard Core Racers.

Perfect. Looks nice and long, too. Position it so the bottom is about 4cm from the pavement, and you can ride along and just watch all of the front wheel spray hitting it and running harmlessly down onto the pavement.

Update: was unhapy with the coverage of the SKS gravel-specific clip on fenders so bought a set of PDW all-metal (aluminum) 45mm fenders. They’re only 1.3lbs for the pair, which surprised me, they’re low profile, and they fit perfectly. I installed the front fender yesterday and it looks pretty slick. Very very mild toe clip when I turn aggressively, but otherwise great. Can’t install the rear fender because it won’t work in conjunction with my Tailfin pannier rack, which uses the fender mount — once I get the thru-axle adapter for the Tailfin the rear will go on too. Then I’ll just eat the extra weight and keep the fenders on permanently

Thanks for all the solid feedback on this.

PSA: REI has a clearance on these fenders right now. $90 for some ultra-high-quality fenders that are normally $120.

All set -- the PDW fenders work great, though it's a tight fit. Much better than the clip on ones. Thanks for the advice!

That looks like a great setup! nice job on the mounting, too -- you've got a nice fenderline. You'll never notice the weight, but you'll love the protection.

Bonus points for buying from REI. I've been a member for longer than I can recall -- probably about 35 years.

The rack a fender can go on the same eyelet. I k ow some people might not suggest it but in practice, I don't see the harm. The front wheel is wherisyoure susceptible to something catching in the fender stays. Gravel bikes look great with full fenders!

SKS Speedrockers on my 20# CX bike. I've been on wet roads for 30 miles and come back dry and clean. They are AWESOME.

I've got a FC,. Went all silver on the build (except the cranks), and it looks sweet, but yours is freaking gorgeous. Those cranks and those fenders.... yeah.

+1 more for Velo Orange fenders if you want something that functions nicely. Once initially installed, these could be removed and re-installed in a few minutes on a work stand.
