Raleigh SB serial number Reynolds 753 Ti Frame
So I’ve been told this is a true SB Frame in Team Ti Colors, I believe the frame has original paint, also I believe the lettering is probably original also… I was told the SB serial number denotes a late 1982 frame.
I found it on FB market about 6 months ago and have been trying to decide whether to build it for myself or not, but I like early stuff better,
It has 57 stamped on the bottom Bracket. The fork is stamped on the steerer tube with the same 4 digits as the bottom bracket.
They just don’t come up hardly at all..
It has some corrosion on edges and here and there please email me for more full details and extra pictures, one example is the head steerer tube, you can see the paint is starting to peel back on the edge, inside the BB looks rust free to me as does the steering tube what looks like rust inside is actually red paint residue from the factory i assume..
A few people commented when i put the pictures up on the appraisal thread if you know the SB Ilkeston bikes at all i beleive everything looks in order for a Reynolds 753 tubed Team Ti frame.
from what i have read these were sold as Frame sets and then the individual could build the bike how they wanted it, i was told that Campy Super record would be period correct and was commonly used on what was an expensive frame.
I have looked on ebay completed sales and cant really find anything comparable so due to the rarity if the Frame and the apparent good condition i am asking
$1,300. but feel free to enter into a discussion.
Whole thing
Rear drops are correct with special drilling
Paint is flaking at bottom of head steerer tube
Don’t see corrosion
Sticker
Decals/Stickers aren’t perfect but pretty good indeed
Riveted badge
Nice

If you don't mind me saying so, perhaps as a f & f only, it won't appeal to us cheap troglodytes. We like to find this quality, hopefully far below market value.
You may do better at auction.

I understand and thanks for the comment, i wanted to offer it to an enthusiast first and foremost rather than the larger market, however that may be my best option.

Are you sure that's a 57 cm frame? Can you measure it from BB center to top tube center. If it measures to be a 56 cm, it will be my size and I will definitely be interested......

I will attempt to post additional pictures of how i measured i think it is a "small 57" as Raleigh seemed to run small, i believe its a little less than a 57 but that is depending on how you measure.in my opinion.

sbdu size
I have had the frame looked at by a SBDU expert who has a blog and i think about 30 frames and he was pretty sure from pictures it was the real deal.

That is useful info thanks for that, the BB is marked with number 57, i will send pictures of the BB info to the eventual buyer before act of sale ... i guess i am a bit of a conspiracy guy, as i don't want anyone faking up an SBDU using my serial number..

I guess you didn't read what i posted in answer to your question about the picture of the BB, i said "I will send a picture of the BB to the purchaser before the act of sale.".. i have nothing to hide here its all above board, as i stated about my conspiracy theories, these frames have been faked so i'm not about to put the serial number on view to assist someone who would take a Raleigh record and stamp the information onto the BB and sell it some unsuspecting punter.
Thanks Gary

I did read it. And like I said it is of no matter to you. Considering the plethora of SBDU bike BB's posted on the net (including mine) I find your obsession with not sharing the SBDU number a bit strange. As I said, that is just me. No need to respond, we see it differently and that is just the way it is.

I would bet quite a bit that if that happened, we would be some of the very first to know, call it out and cause it to go down in flames in very short order.
The experts here, of which there are many track this and the like fastidiously, are rarely fooled and have plenty of experience with this very thing, its what we/they do.
I think it could even be tracked to some degree as well.

From the new pics, it looks likely it's a 56cm from center line of TT to center of BB, right?

Part of the discrepancy is where you took the measurement. See the little peak on the seat lug? That, believe it or not, is where the Team Pro frames were measured. I know it doesn't make sense, but it is what it is.
