I think it was Vince who saved my bacon in 2016. Tore a sidewall and he came along shortly after on a Honda Trail with some gaff tape which we affixed ro the inside of the casing.
Lasted the rest of the way to Hot Springs and back the next day!

I remember sagging one year around then, someone cut a sidewall and I had a Park tire boot in my gear and got that person into Hot Springs. Of the various times I have done the ride, I would say just having one Park boot in your kit is well worth it. The rocky spots on Cino are hard on sidewalls. Every time it seems to happen after the big hill post-lunch day one. Some guys really let fly down that hill, and tires are only good as shock absorbers to a point.

There is a chance I can still do this ride but small since I have another tripped planned but not purchased for close to the same time period.

Q: Is the registration transferable to next year if conflict occurs?

I ask since covid year of Eroica was not transferred for me when I could not make next event.
Also tried to let merziac use my registration and he was unsuccessful even though he volunteered at same event
I now boycott Eroica due to this.

I had a Trail 70 when I was a kid. Basically the same, except smaller wheels and folding handlebars. When I was in the Navy and we visited St. Thomas, I was too young to rent a car, but they did let us rent CT90's to ride around the island. We had a blast for two days on them.

On my first Cino, on day 1 I missed a right turn after the Bacon Lady stop and ended up descending the entire 9-mile hill. Right at the bottom a pickup truck pulled up and asked if I was part of the Cino group. Ended up it was one of the ride support team, looking for stray riders. I appreciated not having to bike back up that hill (which would occur the next day). In short, there's plenty of support for those who might be straggling.

Same missed turn in 2021. No support in sight (as the website warns - when you need it, count on it not being there - part of the spirit is a commitment to self support and mutual rider support). Wife was volunteering at lunch, so no choice but to ride back as no cell service. Thankfully northbend was signaling from far back that we had missed the turn, led us all the way back to that beautiful waterfall lunch spot. Added 15 miles and ~2500 feet of climbing that day 1. Thought I'd be shot on day 2, but not so. Must have been the wonderful dinner and drink, companionship and scenery that got me through.

Hi all, just had an email exhange with one of the directors Erica, At this point they are still "shaking the trees for a few more riders" it is close and they will make the call and send email on monday

so if anyone is on the fence, this is your change to go for it and I would encourage registration

as for concerns like

1) I am out of shape.....so am I and life events recently have not helped a) do what you can to get in better shape b) put lower gearing on the bike c) remember there is no shame in a good effort and not finishing the event is much more than just the ride

2) I don't have a vintage bike a) nice to have but not required....worst case you get a little bit of heckling b) better to do the event than not to do the event

Okay, I signed up, I have wrangled work stuff so I can go, I have a reservation at Alameda's for Saturday night and reservations at the scenic Kallispel Motel 6 Friday and Sunday. Most important, my wife is on board for all this. (She doesn't ride, but will be along to point and laugh provide moral support.) So I have (finally) done my part.

Now a few more of you damn well better get off the schneid and sign up so I can finally experience Cino. C'mon, let's go. Chop chop!

Well, I took the leap and registered for Cino. Woohoo! Hopefully, there will be enough riders to make it happen. Looking forward to seeing/meeting some of you in Montana.

Wife gave the green light on the condition I have a (long-overdue) garage sale sometime before the event.

I received the below e-mail from the Cino organizers at 8:27 pm PDT this evening. We have white smoke!!

I saw the post from mountaindave in a different thread earlier today that they still need to get to 50 riders by Friday (6/23). I think the e-mail below supersedes Dave's, but I certainly would be willing to pitch in some extra shekels to make this happen if need be.

Hi Cino Riders,

First, thank you all for registering for this year's Cino ride. We are delighted to have so many dedicated riders and supporters near and far.

Cino 2023 is happening!


As you know, this is a fundraising event for Kalispell Montessori's scholarship fund. With that in mind, we set a minimum number of 55 riders to make this year's event a success. We didn't quite reach our goal by our deadline, but we are just shy (48 riders) of the goal and continue to hope that we can pick up a few more participants in the final weeks before the ride. We are deeply touched by the many offers to pass the proverbial hat to make this year's ride a go - thank you for your spirit of generosity! Trust that there will be more opportunities to help us meet our fundraising goals.

We will be sending more information as the date gets closer, but those of you who are joining us from out of town, please let us know how we can help with logistics, accommodations, or anything else you need. We know it is neither easy nor inexpensive to get to the Flathead valley in the middle of summer and we're happy to do what we can to make it as easy as possible.

We would love to have more riders, so please continue to spread the word and share our website with any prospective riders. For local riders, if any of your friends or family members would like to volunteer, let us know and we'll connect you with a fun(ish) job that suits your skills and desires.
