Toepeak EXP vs. DXP bags

Toepeak EXP vs. DXP bags
Hi all, hopefully this is the right forum
I bought a new Jamis Renegade S2 bike for fun, so I'm converting my old 12 speed to a errand bike.
I bought a Toepeak explorer MTX rack, and now I need to buy a bag.
I'm pretty confused on which bag is going to be the best.
The EX or EXP, DX or DXP.
The P versions have built in panniers than can double the usable space. The D versions expand upward for more space.
Why would anyone get the EX versions at all? The DX isn't any heavier, but has more space. Is it just cost?
My use cases are: Primary intended use is errands around town. Then maybe some short bike commuting to the train. Last would be to use it on My Jamis Renegade for overnights (which I have never done before).
