What did you just buy for your gravel bike?

Notices
Cyclocross and Gravelbiking (Recreational) This has to be the most physically intense sport ever invented. It's high speed bicycle racing on a short off road course or riding the off pavement rides on gravel like : "Unbound Gravel". We also have a dedicated Racing forum for the Cyclocross Hard Core Racers.

What did you just buy for your gravel bike?

I picked up a couple CR18 rims to build some new wheels but I'm still looking for and Ultegra rear hub to complete the build parts.

4iiii Precision Pro dual sided power meter for the GRX crankset on my Stigmata. It was a factory install where I shipped them the crankset, they do the install and then send it back. The process was smooth and they work perfectly.

For the gravel bike, but just for pottering around town, not actual gravel riding, I just bought a pair of violet anodized RockBros platform pedals on-the-cheap off Amazon, just $30. I only needed pedals which looked decent and did a decent job, so I’m thinking I may have scored big with these, because they seem awfully nice in 306g worth of aluminum and stainless for less than what many nylon pedals cost. The bearings are stiff and don’t spin freely, which hopefully augers well for a long service life; I’d be surprised if I log more than 30 fair weather miles/yr on these pedals, so I’m hoping they last many years.

Hunt Adventure Carbon 650b wheelset w/ 2.1" GravelKings. These will be the largest tires I've ridden by far. This is an XL-size frame, so the picture doesn't do it justice as far as how large the tires are. They look almost ridiculously large in person, but I love the appearance.

There is at most 2 mm clearance to the drive-side chainstay. The "new tire" rubber whiskers on the sidewalls fold over, though the wheel spins freely. The tires did add some weight. 20.2 lbs as pictured. Still not too bad. Should be fun.

e5 diverge getting some upgrades

Roval Terra 20mm setback post is pure game changer in this bike, up to 18mm flex designed in to absorb the bumps of the roads and trails.

Swapped the oem 90mm for this S-works 110mm. Still need to lower the stack height a bit more w/ short reducer cup.

These tires setup pretty wide, like 35mm on the wide rim gravel wheelset. they roll so much faster then the IRC Boken Plus 38c I removed

I'm curious... The cassette is 11 speed? whats the cog range - or even better, maybe share a link to the one you have?
I am heading to Germany, in October, and going to be buying a gravel bike for use there - but don;t like some of the cog range spreads... so I might get a cassette to take along...
so info would be very appreciated...
Thx

Teravail Rutlands, durable casing, 65B x 47. I have been through the WTB range--ByWays, Ventures, Senderos, then back to Ventures......these Rutlands are the best tire I've used here in SoCal where it's dry, steep, loose over hard, and rocky. They hook up at least as well as the Senderos but roll waaay better on the road. Also they hold air better than the Ventures (which in my experience, leaked from the sidewalls too much). Highly recommended.

How about a New/Another Gravel bike? I didn;t really 'need' more stuff for my other Gravel bike (Poseidon X). But it's getting shipped to Germany, to be my gravel 'ride' there, when I'm there.
For my replacement, here... I was gonna buy a Lauf True Grit - rode one my cycling bud has, same general sizing specs as me... I liked it, but aside from being a bit 'lighter', I felt the Lauf fork wasn't substantially a big difference from the Redshift Shockstop stem I've been using... so decided No Lauf.
... I was gonna buy a VAAST... because the entire bike idea intrigued and I liked the idea - but that, somehow, didn;t happen...
... So I almost went with a Decathlon Triban Grvl 120 - buying over there...
... but then I made the mistake of continuing to wander around the internet, and happened to land on the 'Framed' Site...
mistake... LOL!
saw the Basswood - APEX 1x, 11-42, TRP Spyre, WTB wheels (my experience with their mtb wheels has been great!) typically weird flare bars (don;t like flre bars...) Overall a good design and build for my version of mtb-lite - and adding a Shockstop Stem...
Paid the Tariff... received in 4 days, rode already 3x - It's Great ! Poseidon X is on it's way to my family home in Germany... Happy days!

Framed Basswood 54-M, Apex 1x & 11spd 11-42, Redshift Shockstop Stem, WTB wheelset

Pretty much everything (since I'm building up a gravel bike). Used carbonda 696 frarmeset, schwalbe g-one all around tires 700x45, farsports gravel wheels are en route, etap 11 2x, storck powerarms cranks and bikingreen 46/30 rings (storck cranks are thm clavicula classics). This is gonna be fun.

swapped out GRX 46/30 for these PM based 50/34. Needed more gear inches for paved sections.

Do you know if they will do this on a 165mm GRX crankset? I had pretty much given up hope.

I think so. Check out the page for the factory install and there is no mention of length. They do ask for a pic of the frame clearance showing that a AAA battery will clear the area.

My singlespeed Cross Check is my project bike, always messing with the configuration - such an easy bike for noob like me to work on. Just switched it back from flat bars to drop bars and got these Ritchey Comp Ergomax bars. Interesting design--got them because I wanted the slight rise. They also have really flat/wide tops--looks a little odd once you get the cables on and all taped up, but damn if they aren't comfy for resting your hands on the tops.

- Pirelli Cinturato Gravel H and M tires
- Omni Racer carbon seat post
- Omni Racer stem
- Whisky Spano carbon handlebar...

(Not my pic)

The combination of post, bars, and stem will shave about 200g (almost 1/2 lb) 226g (1/2 lb) off the weight of my bike, plus add to the comfort level. (EDIT: Weights verified).

I've been searching for the perfect SPD gravel pedal (for me) and I think I found it. Most the SPD pedals I've found are too heavy or bulky. These are Wellgo Xpedo RF-S1 SPD single sided pedals. They come in at 245g for the pair, with sealed bearing axles. Clip in/out is very easy while being secure and the included SPD cleats allow for some float. Also they come unpainted so unlike the Shimano PD-600 SPD pedals you don't have to worry about paint wear. In fact the Xpedo line of pedals are starting to become my favorite for road and gravel based on price and performance. I have their Xpedo Look Keo pedals on my road bike and they also work great. I couldn't find these sold in the US (Xpedo only sells their heavier 2x sided SPD pedals), so I ordered the RF-S1 set from AliExpress for about $35 USD w/shipping.

I just added some budget L-Twoo GR9 11 speed 1x shifters to my latest roadie/gravel build. The shifters are paired with a Shimano GRX 400 RD, 11-32t cassette and GRX 600 42t 1x crankset. They are Shimano 2:1 ratio compatible, but shift Campagnolo style with an upshift lever by the hoods. They're quite slim, but with a very-pronounced raise in the hoods (they feel like small horns). I was planning to go with 105 R7000 shifters for this 1x build, but these L-Twoo shifters come in at 400g (vs 105 R7000 500g) and cost about $50 USD. Shifting is pretty good, much better than the Sensah Team Pro shifters I tried which are also Shimano compatible. They also have a solid clank when you shift, versus my softer feeling Shimano levers on my other bikes. The only downside is that you can't upshift in the drops, but for the price, weight reduction and shift performance it's not a big issue. As far as I'm aware, these are the only Shimano compatible 11 speed 1x shifters besides the GRX 600/800 line-up.

I just bought three sticks of Sugru to craft covers for the internal cable routing ports in the frame. Exciting, right?
