The bike is now at the bike shop for repairs I can't do ie: replace the bottom bracket.
There is a crack in the seat tube. Stay tuned for the progress on that issue.

Update: The bicycle is from the shop. New BB. I found in my parts box a Shimano 7 speed short cage 105. The shop was able mate this to an 8 speed shifter. Just save some money there on parts. The cassette is therefore an 8 speed 11-30 with a 53t chain ring.
About the crack. I purchased some steel tube clamps to even the pressure around the crack and added one to the seat tube so the weight will be less. You can see the crack in the picture. The previous owner overtightened the screw. Time will tell if this will work. Note the saddle with springs, again to reduce stress on the tube.

That rack looks just as attractive as the rack on Pinigis's latest creation. 😉
Rack tells me you are planning to haul stuff. Hope 53T in the front and 30T in the back is satisfactory for your terrain while schlepping stuff. At least it's not a rack paired with a 58T front ring. 😉
