Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Felt like the fat kid I used to be this morning. Sucking wind most of the ride and heart felt like it was in my throat. Blaming it on fatigue do to crappy people at crappy hotels.

After a while I told the others to go ahead because I would slow them down too much on the climbs. They did but they encountered another woman we know going the other way and they were chatting so long that I caught up. We stayed together (sort of) for some more climbing until they suggested going into town for some lunch.

The ladies went inside to order and I asked for a scone. She bought me a giant pannini instead. Of course, I ate the whole thing and struggled on the little climbs afterward. 2 weeks in a row someone has bought my lunch.
You must look hungry.

In exciting bike schwag news, I had a 20% off coupon and REI dividends burning a hole in my pocket, so I picked up a Wahoo Tickr Fit this morning. It's an optical, HRM armband, so I reduced my manboobage by a good 40% with that move, which is nice.
We had a couple hundred bucks in dividends that we used to buy our kid rock climbing gear. Then the coupon came a couple days later.

Got up this morning and forced myself to do a zwift ride. Not good. I've lost a ton of fitness in 3 weeks. 220 watts average. 140 max heart rate? That seems low. Could it be from the vaccine? Chest feels a bit congested today too. Numb friken hands today too, that really sucks. It's arthritis related somehow? Thumbs are not happy with me today.

I don’t have an answer for you, but you make me feel better about my situation. Thanks.

Dan's activity doesn't look unusual. His name was changed and pic removed, though.

Welp, evidence seems to indicate that I can't get by eating nothing but wings and pizza all day.

I even had oatmeal with raisins, craisins, almonds, and walnuts in for breakfast, and my GI tract is still destroyed.

The hacked pic was rather provocative. Not quite horsie status, though.

Another fantastic chilly but sunny spring ride done. It won’t last, but I even got on top of the leaderboard. Now gotta drive to visit the Old Folks at Home. Cue up Stephen Foster.

Sad, indeed. Maybe some whole wheat flour crust or more veggie toppings?

I was just ribbing you - there's a musician named Kid Rock; I don't think that he'd exactly be your speed and endorsing climbing gear wouldn't be on-brand for him, either.

FWIW, I've always wanted to give climbing a whirl, too.
