Yup, I'm still planning to be there, no WC games on the 4-th. It will be great to see you!

o my bad. i was factoring in the gentle climb to/from the lifts. was thinking 11:30am. lunchtime. i suppose 9:45am-10am would be more of a "construction" lunchtime. not picky or quibbling.

Oh, I wasn't thinking about the ski lift climb. Actually I try very hard to NOT think about that.

For the record, anyone who does the lifts deserves a beer, regardless of the time of day!

You need to get that map back out and look at it again...

There's also congregation tap house in Azusa, which is less IPA-ey for guys like Chris.

Eager to see you again too Comrade. So much has happened and changed since the last time we rode and shared a beer.
I was thinking about leaving the crash-hat at home and riding bareheaded with you, but GMR is just too fun a descent. I've passed over 15 motorcycles on downhills so far. (And up to 19 broken bones. haha) Alas, still haven't made it past 60mph yet though.

8:00, Glendora High School!

i meant beers not breweries. i realize three weavers is on the edge of inglewood and craftsman doesn't even have a tasting room. if congregation tap house has a decent selection then sweet.

No clue where to find those then! You can check out the tap list here (click on Azusa):

Taplist | Congregation Ale House

Good news, if you come down the back way from GMR through Camp Williams, this place is nearly exactly on the road back to the start. Almost exactly. Not sure about the hours on the fourth nor the bike friendliness of the locale though.

Looking online at Google maps it appears they have a small patio area with seating and where bikes can be closely watched.

@TrojanHorse perhaps a visit prior to the event is in order.............just to look around

We have confirmation.

Sorry about duplicate post before. Not sure what happened. Maybe the mods held up my original post for review because of the Russian foul language?

Okay, have confirmed with Missy that there will be cinnamon rolls on July 4th and The Mt. Baldy Lodge will be open early (8:30 AM) instead of the usual 11:00 on Wednesday).

I'll be starting from Boulder Springs; not sure what time yet but maybe 7:30 AM.

Can't speak for everyone else, but that's when Comrade Jimmy and I will embark. I'll be in my usual La Vie Claire kit on my white '86 Schwinn Peloton.

If I go, it will be later... Up Baldy Road and down GMR is my favorite route.

I'll be descending cautiously on a black/white Supersix Evo or white Allez. Haven't decided.

I'm usually sporting a black POC helmet and glasses and a messenger bag with treats.

Yes sir, we definitely must catch up on all the gossip, but I got a cold. Hope I'll be in good enough condition to ride on the 4-th, albeit slow. If not, why don't you stop by my place on your way home? There is always real beer in my fridge. I'll buzz you closer to the time. And yes, wear that flag jersey - it gives you quite a few badass points.

i guess. gotta work in sd at 2:30 so was hoping to start earlier. if i start at 8am from glendora high, my turnaround time is 10am. no ski lifts for me.
so...i gotta choose between starting around sunrise (6am or so) and riding to the lifts (legs willing) and back or starting later and mixing in the social aspect but riding
a shorter distance. decisions...decisions...

Make sure your kit matches your bike, including but not limited to colour and team sponsors; helmet and shoes match kit and bike, cycling specific sunglasses and socks, etc. Geez, don't be a girl.
It will be good to see you Rick.
