Teal Is Real
I picked this up a couple of months ago from mstateglfr here on the forum (thanks again!). I tried to get Robbietunes to talk me off of the ledge, but you know how THAT goes!
I had no doubt that it would be a killer bike at a good price, but I was afraid it would be to big, even for my 6’3” frame. Any bigger, yeah, I’d have been in trouble, but we are getting along just fine.

Looks great. But it doesn't seem very well locked up for a college town with the cable wrapped around the top tube.
That is a nice color, and I haven't seen many in that color, 2 or 3, max.

Excellent choice, or lucky grab. 😁😉 I'm trying to remember for sure, which year that is, probably '92, but that was the first year of the T700 model number. The '91 was the last year of the ST models, and these 2 years, were the last for the horizontal top tube.
So you have a cool color, plus the only T-series Cannondale, with a horizontal top tube. 👍 Enjoy. 😎

I remember seeing that thing on the FS subforum and if I didn't already have a big honkin' ST I might have beat you to it. Everybody who loves touring bikes should own one, IMO. Currently trying to wrassle onto mine a seriously heavy duty front rack that requires some mods. But if/when it takes, it'll be a real touring bike then.

Man, The ST’s are just awesome! I’ve got a ‘90 ST600 that is “cosmetically challenged” and an ‘85 ST400 frame in mid-build limbo. I really like that dark teal color though!

It is really handsome in the Teal. I am not normally a fan of Teal but I love how dark this shade is and it looks really nice with the blackwalls and black rims. I have an ST500 in dark blue but I could be very happy with this color (you're making me reconsider rim color with your photos) beautiful bike!

Nice! I've always had a soft spot for that color. GM had a nearly identical color in 1966 and 1967 they called "Tahitian Turquoise". My buddy had a crazy fast '67 Camaro SS/RS with a heavily modified 327, 4 speed and 4.56 posi in that color with white Hugger stripes, it had the rare fold down rear seat too.

I've been casually hunting for a complete early/mid-80s ST bike in my size (60) for the last year or so with how impressed I was with the SR. Wanted to build a gravel bike to ride on a new chunky trail nearby.
That said, can someone give me a short "TL;DR" on the major diffs between the ST and T frames other than the latter having a less attractive unicrown fork?
I've been casually hunting for a complete early/mid-80s ST bike in my size (60) for the last year or so with how impressed I was with the SR. Wanted to build a gravel bike to ride on a new chunky trail nearby.

Here's a good comparison of the frame geometry/dimensions/features from the 1985 catalog, looks like chainstay length is the biggie, plus the touring has a longer more relaxed geometry as you would expect (plus an extra set of bottle bosses!). I will confess I do not know if the later 'T' and 'R' series deviated from this, but this should be a pretty good for comparison for the era of your frame...
More curious how the ST and T differ. May be able to dig on the catalogs at Vintage Trek, that would give me numbers, but also curious about other build details (like, looks like all the "T" frames are unicrown, which I loathe).

Looks like for the touring series only the ground to top tube dimension has changes from the ST.
