$10,000 to spend on a 'bike' for commuting and leisurely weekend rides? Here's a few I'd consider:

https://www.harley-davidson.com/us/e...d-pricing.html

https://powersports.honda.com/street/touring/ctx700

https://powersports.honda.com/street/touring/interstate

https://www.kawasaki.com/motorcycle/...ROUPLIST-_-MPP

Some might be a tad over $10,000, but I'll bet dealers are ready to deal on the remaining 2019 models.

That's terrific. Do you also think that people who spend a lot of money on bikes are elitist scum?

Thanks everyone… lots of good ideas posted here.

It now seems a custom frame may be the best way to go, but I’m still not sure what material to use. The more exclusive and special the better. Please help!

I especially like the heads up helmet visor display suggestion! I guess I just forgot about those.

I also appreciate all the thoughts regarding the need to up my budget. I kind of expected this might be the case, but just didn’t want to fully acknowledge it. But I definitely don’t want to have to “upgrade everything” after getting the bike… better to get it right the first time. But I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t quite anxious to get this bike rolling.

I’m not sure why some here seem to be joking around… a 547 pound Harley Davidson? Seriously? Sure, it may be flashy and within the budget, but how would I carry it up the stairs?

I realize my “would likes” may not be standard on a budget of only $10,000, so I suppose I can splurge upwards a bit if necessary. Or, I'm not opposed to doing a bit of cobbling if that's what it takes. Thanks!
"Most Importantly" is the key here. This means we go to Looney Tunes Illinois, the location of the original poster. Poster will find that the "most importantly" does not need $10,000. That's the stark truth.

If nobody says this, I will.

There certainly were detailed suggestions in the prior posts in this thread, but even though I have the above-described bikes and decades-long varied cycling experience, I usually just give a general answer without specifics:...

I'm sometimes annoyed when someone tells me,"You just have to read this book (see this movie...try this dish...)"

We'll go with great minds so we can both flatter ourselves.

Speaking of feeble minds, I may have wrecked mine working on my new mercury-based frame.

Forget carrying it up the stairs, that will be easier than finding a Harley that weighs only 547 pounds.

Are you sure? It was listed as such in the specs of the first link Skidder provided. Probably that was without pedals.

That is dry weight. You want it filled with oil and gas. That brings it up to 564 pounds. The heads up display unit will add a few pounds as well, and I assume you will have bags and a water bottle cage.

Don't forget the 50 pounds of speakers needed to make it properly conspicuous. No window unrattled, I always say.
