Interesting. I can’t recall seeing such a thing, but it looks like it attaches to the frame and holds the chain, and you open it and loop the chain through the lock point and secure both ends in the bike under the locking cap, no?

That's what I get, but I can't find ANY information on it not even a picture, 2 number combination lock, remove lid remove flat head screw inside, bolt around frame, trap the ends of the chain around something

Now that's information I don't know how you found it, I never thought of looking at pat application , WOW I have a bike lock from the 30s THANK YOU

Well, box says "patent applied for" so there is a record of the patent application. A simple Google of "patent bicycle lock sears roebuck" turned up a couple with this being one of them.
