Cable End Caps PVC - Cheap?
Been using PVC end caps on my cables for years but I ran out of them an cannot find them anywhere. So on to the ChiCom Outlet...
Found Um... Here's the link. 200 for 14 USD when including the shipping, about 7 cents a piece. Not really a great buy but worth it for me.

It's been decades since I saw plastic cable end "crimps". Do you find these to not slip/fall off cables in time? What about shift cables with their 1.2ishmm diameter? Have you tried heat shrink tubing? (I haven't) Andy

i didn't even know there were plastic crimp/end caps

These are just Plastic PVC end caps that fit well over 1.5mm cable. I found it easy to use these instead of the crimp on end caps cause I was changing out components on several of my bicycles as I upgraded. The crimp on caps look better but can deform the cable end and even leave it frayed. With these I just put a drop of super glue on the end of the cable and slide them on. Latter if I have to remove them, I just pull them off or use a razor blade to strip them. I don't remember where I originally found them. May have even been out of an old Allied Electronics catalogue.
Anyway... They work well and are proven for me.

Seriously? I never thought of that! I'll have to try it. For what its worth, I'll bet that the el-cheapo Harbor Freight spot welder could easily be modified to cut and fuse cable. I'm not about to buy one just to play with, but you never know when you'll see one at a yard sale for five bucks, right?

To be clear, the listing in bad English syntax did state it was a metal tube covered with vinyl.
I just go down to my LBS. Like a lot of things, these are stuff they give me free. Maybe I'm a likeable person and people want to give me free stuff. But I personally doubt that. <grin>
Though I doubt they'd be so free with them if I had 200 cables to replace instead of the couple every blue moon or two.

We have a spot in our Tractor Supply parking spot where on Sunday locals bring in thier "Vintage Anything" (tractors, cars, tools, machines, triks and bikes...). I took my simi restored PR10 one afternoon and was surprised at how many people zeroed in on it not having end caps on the cables.... Ha

I hear you Iride01. I am a Fred for sure, don't care about how tall my socks are and I use a MTB helmet with a bill to keep as much sun off my face as possible but some conventions are reasonable.
