Addiction LXVI

Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Sofas are overrated.

The construction crew is still at work in the street outside the house. They wait for the clock to strike 7am and they fire up the heavy machinery. Today it was the backhoe with a rotary compacting attachment - it was like an alarm clock with the entire house on vibrate.

I saw it in the theater. The CVS on the corner of 19th & Chestnut used to be a movie theater called Cinema 19. The place showed second run films. Often there were "double headers." The price of admission: $1. The place was pretty run down. At one point I remember they had an area of seats roped off because plaster was falling from the ceiling. Budco eventually took it over and made it nice. I remember seeing "The Elephant Man" there.

I've had Epigraph, by King Crimson, for almost a week. It might be foretelling me something.

I drove around the city all day yesterday, convinced there was someone in the back seat.

The heat and humidity have returned. I'll have to try and get out early tomorrow, or this evening if it doesn't rain. I bought some dark chocolate, nut, fig, date, etc. bars at Costco yesterday, as an experimental fueling option. The trick will be to stay out of them unless I'm riding.

This morning it was in the 50s and dry in town. High in the 70s today.
