Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Fine weather for riding here too, but I have work to do. I've been putting off mowing, and I made a big mess mixing fuel yesterday, so I must move forward with that.

I think.
That's OK. You have plenty of handwringing time. You should build it with Campy. I heard Campy is cool. BF told me.

From frameset to bike, it usually takes a year for me because of the related funding issues. I provide easy solutions to my birthday and Christmas needs.

I would love to build up with Campy, provided the pricing isn't too crazy and it'll work with the Shimano cassette on the Assaults. At this point though, complete bike pricing looks like it'll make more sense unless I find a great deal on a frame.

Hey rjones -what was your main bike before the Allez? You have it all now - cross, road, commuter, and old.

That's too bad. An example of why Campy doesn't get into the market, although they're hoping Potenza changes that. Unlikely in the US, but maybe overseas.

Maybe if it ends up OEM on some bikes overseas, the groups will end up gray market on the UK sites. A guy can dream.

It's too bad. Campy OEM pricing isn't that bad. Excel had Campy stuff at their team pricing, which wasn't that much higher than OE.

I am really happy with the bikes I have(for the first time in a long time). If one fell into my lap, that would be a different story.

I was just poking around a bit and saw Campy hydro levers and calipers for about ~$280. "Hey," I thought, "that's awesome pricing! I got a great deal on the Shimano levers and callipers and that was $240, so this is more than reasonable!" Then I saw that the pricing was for one lever and one caliper, not for the pair.

We'll see what happens over the winter.

The chances of that happening, in my current location, are remotely slim.

Atomik Carbon out of Florida is offering a lifetime warranty on their carbon wheels. Bet it's a well written warranty. The first photo on their FB page is their wheels on a Stradalli. Thought that was funny.

You can just tell how OCD I am, from this pic. It's the newest of the fleet, a 1995 Giant Yukon. That special rack is for pulling a trailer, which I no longer have.

Good club ride today. It was very windy. I did hit a rock (didn't see it but felt it) with my front wheel and shortly after the front tire was flat. The first tube I put in did not hold air so I borrowed one from a clubmate and sent the group ahead to the rest stop which was about 5 miles away. Closer inspection of the rim shows a small oblique crack in the crabon along the outer edge, only about 4mm and not even all the way through to the inside of the rim.

I should probably post a picture of my cracked crabon rim in the 41 and ask for suggestions.
