What to do with Campagnolo Stratos Groupo?
Hi folks,
A while back I was given a trashed Specialized Allez with a weathered Campagnolo Stratos 8 speed Groupo. The frame was cracked & bent, but the components turned out to be functional. Before stripping the, I serviced & adjusted them. Surprisingly everything worked. The wheels only needed minor truing & the 8 speed brifters worked well. A lot of the paint on the parts is missing.
I originally thought these would look good on a Made in Taiwan Bianchi, but haven’t been able to find any that’s affordable. A forum member had a Schwinn Prelude that could be a possibility. Also, there have been a couple of Trek 2300s on our local Craig’s List for a reasonable price.
Any suggestions and/leads would be greatly appreciated.
Cheers,
Van

Death fork? Naaaah!!
My '93 C'dale R600 came with Stratos. When I was researching the bike I could find NOTHING about that group on line.

Stratos was only offered in 1994. It's on my Giant Cadex CFR and works flawlessly. Whatever people say, it's not bad!

Yes found a very clean "Made in Taiwan" Bianchi that had a hodgepodge of lower/mid level Shimano parts on it & cheap wheels. Outfitted it with the Campy parts plus new tires. Rode it for a couple of weeks, then, passed it on.
Now looking for either a 531 framed Raleighs or mid to late 80s Schwinns light weights.
Cheers,
Van

Oops, senior moment. Seat post 54-55cm CTC, top tube 54-56cm CTC. The Schwinn is to be a slightly more comfortable alternative to my 88 Waterford Paramount. The Raleigh is one of those wild hair projects. My first good bike was an early 70s Raleigh Competition & i’ve collected a group of applicable, but not necessarily period correct, parts for a fun build.
Cheers,
Van
