I use it still they make changes and it keeps getting a little better but it is still fairly difficult to edit your library and shuffle photos. I don't have anything to compare to but I do find it pretty arduous to use.

I don't use it, because I don't like it. They have the wrong kinds of URLs for pictures. They end in jpg but those links are to html pages. The pictures load much more slowly than pictures from other picture hosting web sites. You would do better on just about any other site than photobucket.

Oh I see, yes I haven't tried to mess with it to much other than just use it as a medium to hold pictures and then copy and paste them other places later. To me though free is a pretty good price even if it is not perfect.

[RANT] Frankly, I hate seeing posts which describe a bike or sale item but then list a flickr or other photo-hosting site. They never seem to work the same way from day to day. Even worse, the links often go to a page with thumbnail pics and links to a zillion other places or picture sets. If I wanted links to other pic sets I'd pick up a coffee table book. I'd rather see what the poster intended me to see instead of a bleeping table of virtual contents.[/RANT]

I often send photobucket album links in personal messages and emails and I can't even recall the last time I had someone say they didn't work. I also post them in for sale threads and likewise no complaints. I will say they the way photos enlarge is cumbersome. They offer several copy option including the correct link to embed a photo in bike forums so I can't agree with noglider on that one.

My only complaint is that I feel the ergonomics of the user interface could be improved. I have also never had a link to a photobucket album not work but have frequently has issues with being able to view flickr albums.

blame the user. I usually create individual albums for each component and link them directly (most people don't do this as it is too much work and that is my beef with photobucket, it's a lot of work to do this so people put everything in a huge album spanning many pages).

Also, everyone should use a free ad block ad on to their browser. The internet works off clicks and advertising, make your internet browsing experience better using something like adblock plus.

Photobucket works fine for me. All of the photos in my posts are hosted by Photobucket and I have zero complaints.

Until now... That's why I can't see any of your images from work (P/B links are blocked, Flickr is not). That's my only beef with the 'Bucket and it seems that most car/bike/mandude item enthusiasts use Photobucket and my company's IT web policy has it on their 5h!t list. Oh well, so it goes...

Hmmm.. I'm not sure how that's Photobucket's issue. Raise hell with your employer about the company's IT policy.

Here is what bothers me. You upload a photo to your library, then post a link to it, later you organize the photo into a folder, your link is bust! The link should be independent of the organization. This is so obvious. Their site is clunky and the iPhone app not entirely reliable.

+1
It works for me and it's cheap enough.
I can see how the UI is a little clumsy in places - but that's true of most sites -even including this one.
(Uh oh! I hope that the mods don't ban me for saying that!)

The only issue I've been having is copying the URL when the picture is opened on my screen. I have to copy while I'm in the library when the pics are small. Took a minute to sort that out, and it's a bit of a hassle, but it works for posting pics to BF fine.

Liked Photobucket much better a few years ago...... then they updated their site and the weird URLs for the pics were generated. No more consecutive URLs with just the last numbers changing on the pic file, which made it so much easier to post multiple consecutive pictures from a library. and yes, the pics load slow now, compared to a couple of years ago, because, I think of the ads on the page, and sometimes it even freezes on me and sometimes even weirdly triggers anti virus database updating on my computer that slows down the system even more.... Photobucket's the only program doing that for me....

Photobucket has sucked for years and years.

If you are browsing any forum and there are broken pictures in a post 9 times out of 10 is that stupid PhotoFail icon because the person is using (or trying to use and FAILING) Photobucket of FAIL.

This is true even if the thread is a few days old but as a thread gets months old the probability that the PhotoFail pics will no longer display properly are approaching 1.

The "service" pretty much just sucks.

I use PB, Flickr and SlickPics... I had webshots until they bailed. I currently prefer Flickr.

I find it impossible to navigate Photobucket when some webpage or forum posting sends me there via a link; so generally I don't bother if I see that the link points there. And I don't much like Flickr either, though that's where my photos are posted. Both of them seem to be afflicted in recent years with "feature-itis" that is non-intuitive, and "can't get there from here" sort of stuff. I can't believe that software/website designers have actually spent time making products that are so non-functional, and opposed to making it easy to do what you want to accomplish. Do these people actually use the stuff they design? Hard to believe that they do.

I'll let you guys in on a little secret... imgur.com is simple, easy, handles linking or galleries, and does what you need without lots of BS. Check it out, here's a gallery of mine.

You can also easily link individual photos.

This seems like an odd discussion for C&V. I've only used PB for the entire 9 years I've been on C&V. Copy the [IMG] link and paste it into the reply dialog box. It's easy. The iPhone app makes uploading pictures into my PB easy.

Same here. Perfect use for an old PC: Install linux or FreeBSD and run your own web server. Once you get it set up and running, it doesn't even need a monitor or keyboard. Just stick it in a corner somewhere and let it run. Or, if you're short of room, use a Raspberry Pi.
