Univega 10 speed
Hi, ran across a univega 10 speed, don't know the model, on c.l. and was wondering if the bike was any good. Stem shifters. 27 inch wheels. Wonder if its heavy, looks to be steel frame, thanks for any insight.

It'll probably say what model it is on the top tube, if it's possible to see it in the photos.
Juvela's right...stem shifters typically indicate a lower model of bike. However, Univega bikes are generally decent bikes to start with, so depending on the price it might be worth looking at.

I loved my old Uni, and for the time they were a lighter bike compared to many. Yes, steel. I don't remember why I got rid of it. Oh, now I do, I was moving and got into MTBing and I didn't have room for a collection of bikes.

Do you have a link? Whether it is a good bike is up to the owner/user. Many here may poo poo stem shifters but they came on some OK bikes with partly ChroMo frames and alloy wheels. If it's good mechanical shape and it's all you got to get to work and the store it's a fabulous bike.

Yeah, a link will help. Sometimes those CL ads don't describe the item in enough details and have only 1 (maybe 2) pics at bad angles.

Like others have said, the Arrow Star is pretty far down the pecking order, but I've had several Univegas and have never ridden one I didn't like. From that era, they're all good bikes, much better than a lot of the junk available today. Yours looks like a nice rider!
