Show me your rear!

Show me your rear (derailleurs)!

Whatever you might have lying around, the keepers or newly acquired, or in the hopper for a build or replace scenario.

I just received the Huret Jubilee for the very reasonable sum of $60, shipped. If you keep your eye on these, you know that they are typically selling for about $140-180+ these days, in clean, good condition. I took the chance that what I saw in the photos was primarily dirt 'n grime, and I was right: this Jubilee is in great shape, and will clean up nicely.

The Simplex SLJ6600 (NOS) I bought recently to replace the Simplex Criterium on my Gitane TdF.

I also have this Shimano 600 that I just acquired, but haven't received yet (not my photo).

Long cage derailleurs, other than cheap Shimano MTB examples, are pretty rare in these parts (flat country) so finding these was nice:

Good timing for me. I just emptied my RD drawer to find a mounting bolt for the incomplete NR I just picked up from a forumite. Here's most of my spares, with broken/parts-only ones removed. Heavy bias towards long cages, as you can see. Got another 16 or so mounted on bikes, and another half dozen filed away and bagged as groups with their matching FDs & levers. I'm nearly fully stocked!

one of SunTour's more curious creations....

Never actually tried using it, though.

Just ended up with one of these... Not that excited about it,(would have preferred original SR of course), but somehow made it's way onto my newly acquired Murray Serotta 7-11 Team bike.

May as well make a game of it, then: How many Shimano 600 rear derailleurs does the Caveman own?

(Hint: count the ones in the pic and then add the one that's currently on his Trek 600)

I gave one of those away years ago for nothing. Years later I still don't regret it.

Perfect timing. I'm building a bike for a one armed friend (mosquito bite gone wild - long story). We want to ride in the world renowned BRFH (Bike Ride For Humanity). He just lost his job and his dog ate his mattress which wouldn't have been any big deal but all of his life savings was hidden in there. Then his wife left him for another woman. Anyway, he really likes variety to choose from and considering the dire straits of the situation, I'm sure a generous, obviously well off gentleman as yourself can find it in your heart to help out in a situation like this. Email me. Yes you can pay shipping. Don't worry about my LLC email.

^Hey! Sounds legit.

And since we are one great big Brotherhood of Vintage Bike Obsessives, I'd be happy to help with that, and more. I insist that you accept some financial help from me, with $1000USD gratuity, as your straights are very dire, indeed, and I feel a great warmth in my heart for my brothers. I will send you the derailleurs, but first I will send you a Bank of Nigeria cashiers check for $8000, which you must cash, and then return $7000 back to me, in the form of a certified check drawn on your Ameitcan banks drafts. Unfortunately, that is the smallest check I can send you, as this is an official government account and that is a requirement. Also is requirement that your current address, bank routing number and account numbers, social security numbers and mothers maden name accompany the cashier check. Very important, no mistake please.

Looking forward to helping you and your friend! Blessings!

General Mastabe Mobutu Caveman
Lagos, Nigeria

I see a lot of well-used rears with a little age on them.

A certain caveman, well, let's just not go there.

Looking forward to building up this old LeJeune, fitted with Huret rd. I know, it doesn't take a lot to blow my kilt up these days...
