Maillard hub - axel thread pitch?

Maillard hub - axel thread pitch?
Ready! SHOOT!! ….aim…
I noticed pitting on my front hub cones. So I took some measurements and a few assumptions and ordered replacement cones from ‘no-returns Wheels Mfg.’ with confidence only a masters in mechanical engineering can provide.
The new cone pitch does not match the old axle.
The new cone is listed as 9mm diameter by 1mm thread pitch.
I think the axel is about a 0.9mm pitch. (Measures about 11threads over 10mm…)
Anyone know this minutiae for sure?
Anyone want to buy a new set of cones? See pic. Free shipping!….no returns….
Any suggestions at this point?
I couldn’t find an answer scratching around the internet. A new axle is $40. Heck, I can buy a set of Shimano hub for $55- and no more French stuff to torture me!

I suspect the Maillard axle is a 26TPI pitch. A replacement axle, that matches the cones, might be the easiest way to go forward.
I will say that better service focused shops often save old parts that are otherwise still functional. A 9x26 axle might be in an old parts bin locally. At one time this ft axle spec was about the most common in use. Andy
I just checked if QBP had a 9x1x110 QR axle in stock and they do. But I was not expecting such a high cost. I guess I've been away from the supplier chain for too long. Last time I had to order one for a shop the whole sale cost was about 1/4 what it is now...

thanks for the link, dedhed - my calipers are measuring the OD of the axle at 9mm even steven. 3/8in would be 9.5mm (and a little change). Wheels Mfg. sell 9.5mm.
Andrew R Stewart - I believe you are correct on the 9mm x 26tpi. I can start (by hand) to put the new cone on the old axle, but after a few rotations, it starts to bind. The old cone goes pretty freely.

Sutherland notes that Maillard 700 rear axles are a unique 10mm x 0.75mm (I have a rear with a broken axle and good cones 
)
Sutherland does not say anything about the front, and I would not be surprised if it is something equally oddball. But 9 x 26 is more likely. (Why did anyone ever do metric diameter with imperial thread pitch?)
