I have been thinking of getting a Trek ever since the early 80's when a friends bike shop started selling them. However I was stuck on Japanese bikes then because of the quality of Japanese cars and I just figured it transferred to bikes as well. It was not until recently that I have come to appreciate the quality of an American made Trek.
So I picked up this Trek 560 to fix up, and purple was my first road bike color so it called my name. Picture is of it in the as found condition.

no, I have a 770 see pic below of partial repaint. I'd love a 170 but there weren't too many of them
built. Skip Eckert at vintage trek has 203 listed in his serial number database. I've seen estimates up
to about 250 made.
maybe John from Trek will chime in on this.
and here's my Trek. (more photo's to come).

1981 Trek 613
Currently in the garage while I add SKS "longboard" fenders, KoolStop brake pads and a blackburn rear rack. I'll add updated pics in a few days.

This is beautiful! Love all the details. What did you use to cover the ends of the brake bolts? Also, what Koolstop pads are you going to use? I have the same brakes or close enough, NGC-500, on my 715 and haven't figured out which are the right ones.
