Bridgestone Synergy RB-1
Although I am not in the market, this one caught my eye. It may be a bit big--I'd have to ride it. But before making the drive all the way out to Pasadena, I wanted some feedback. $265 for a Bridgestone Synergy RB -1 which looks to be in good, perhaps excellent, shape.

Have no idea what the market is like in Houston, but the bike appears to be in excellent condition & $265 seems like a fantastic price for an RB-1. The folks who love this bike are legion. I'm actually tinkering with a 94 RB-1 I recently picked up.

Appears to be an '89 model. If it fits, for $265 it's a very good deal, IMHO. Saddle is not original, which to me is the only real downside I can see in the ad pics.

^This. Listed for 8 days, wow. Is the market that soft in Houston? I have flipped a few of these and where I live people clamor to get one in good shape. I have not drank the GP kool aid but this bike is my size and I would have bought it and posted in the "look what I bought today" section. A later model in yellow would be better than the GPX equipped frame but at $265 it's a no brainer. My 2¢. YMMV.

Great deal, I think it is hanging around on CL because it is one of the less desirable early RB-1s, the big money ones are the later ones with the double plate fork crown and eyelets for fenders.

I just picked up a non-original 94 RB-1. The biplane fork was swapped out for a carbon fork, & the components were upgraded to 8 speed Dura Ace STI

It is--as others have said--a good deal. This is not as desirable as the later RB-1s ('92-'94) but still an excellent bike at a fine price.

Come on, guys. Don't do this to me. I had just about talked myself out of letting it pass. (This is the second time he has posted it. It had been posted this summer, and I was able to reason my way into upgrades for other bikes.)

This is a great example of how soft the vintage market has become. For this bike to last nine days now, and to have been a repost, is amazing.

Well... I absolutely LOVE my 1990 RB-1. I've logged over 2000 miles on it since purchasing it locally here in Portland OR, this past spring. The bike simply has mojo! Something about the frame and fork... When I'm not riding it, I'm thinking of riding it. As I recall, I paid $400, and I think THAT price was a screaming deal.
All that said, I've removed and stored some of the RB-1's original components in lieu of ones that suit me better: "Highway One" bar, Tektro levers, SunTour Command shifters (!!!) which I use in friction mode, Tri-color hubs, Hyperglide cassette. (I did the 8-of-9-on-7 trick, to get 12-13-14-15-17-21-24-27 gears.) So equipped, I expect to keep enjoying my RB-1 for a long time.
Now, tire clearance is tighter on my 1990 than I expected. If I inflate my 28C Continental GP4000 SII tires beyond ~80psi, they rub on the brake calipers and/or bridge. Apparently the later RB-1s have more clearance.

"Gruppo" is Italian for "group". It makes sense when applied to Italian groups, although it's a little pretentious sounding. However it makes no sense when the group is Japanese. I don't understand why people think it's the right term to use. Sorry to be so pedantic, it's not you, it's just a pet peeve of mine.

LOL, no, I use "group" for all groups regardless of origin, it always makes sense. To be frank I find "groupo" to be a little pretentious even when applied to Italian groups... But at least it makes sense in that case. Again, sorry, just a pet peeve of mine.
