Remove This From Your Refrigerator Immediately (use UNSUB link on the email)
Is anyone else being sent links to crap pseudo-science videos on protein? Is this endorsed by Bike Forums? I'm not even going to post the link, but trust me, it's too idiotic for anyone to believe.

Yes, got it. Has me considering unsubscribing. Headline is the sort you see in 'chumbox' ad banners.
In my Googling, I found the following. This server 'ibemail.com' and its associated spam is 'legit' in that it's probably sanctioned by the site owners, not due to some hacking of the email database. There is an unsubscribe link in the email, though I saw some complaints that it didn't work. For stuff like this, I am leery of enabling Javascript, which may be required to use the unsubscribe link. So, I will not bother and will not worry about the 'unsubscribe' link. Instead, I've added a filter to my email client: "send emails with 'ibemail.com' in the body to the 'trash' folder". It worked to remove that email. I hope it doesn't remove all actually-legitimate bikeforums email, but we'll see.

Sponsored Email
I received a "sponsored email" from bikeforums.
It was for some "toxic protein' leading to selling spurious medical supplement that I did not care to go through.
It is understandable that bikeforums send sponsored emails to generate operating income but the owners of bikeforum should refrain from supporting outright scams like this one.
I suggest validating any product by personal experience first before unleasing scams on your members for a few dollars.

I dont recall saying yes to this type of mail, but who knows.. might have been part of the signup process or something.
I have unsubscribed, let's see if it works.
Btw, this type of email is just so unprofessional. Really lowers my trust in bikeforums.net as it makes it feel scammy and weird(nothing against you forum member of course, you're great

Spam from Bike Forums? I think this is a first and really sucks unless BF got hacked. Got an e mail from Bike Forums this morning with the title above. Lots of words about weight loss and avoiding bad protein. Click the link to find out what the one toxic protein is.
REALLY? First, what is this garbage doing in my e mail and this may be harmless spam but what person with a little bit of caution is going to click on a link that leads to who knows what? Ransomware is one thing that comes to mind. Spoofing a real website and e mail happens all the time. Label me paranoid but this is unacceptable spam at best and possibly harmful.

We had a similar thread a few weeks ago. I believe the response was that yes, it was a legitimate email campaign. It’s one way BF pays for itself. You might consider becoming a paid member... you can support BF, but get no ads and apparently no targeted emails (at least I didn’t receive either email).

I just looked at my settings. I did have "receive emails from administrators" checked. I don't anymore. If that doesn't solve the problem, I'll change my email to a throw away email address.

I just reset my notifications to NOT receiving these kinds of email. Having to unsubscribe from email notices that I never subscribed to, is a PITA. I am a paying member and I get a lot from BikeForums for that relatively small sum. However, Getting unsolicited ad type emails IS NOT A BENEFIT!

It really is from bikeforums, so no worries about that. We're told that opting out from the email itself if the only way to stop them. Sorry about that.

That message was from me.
Perfectly legit,it only asked you to remove all beer from your fridge and send it to me for analysis.
We can work out a payment plan for the analysis fee.😉

I assume you deleted the email. Go into your trash folder, open the email and click the "remove me" link at the bottom.

Just saw this email in my "Promotions" folder on gmail. Annoying..yes..but on the other hand the last one I saw a couple months ago gave me a 30% off coupon code for Bicycle Wheel Warehouse. Picked up a couple sets of wheels and saved over $200.

I know what you are saying, but this is a classier level of spam. Internet Brands says they will not send you anymore of these emails if you remove yourself from the list. I know they shouldn't have used your email this way, not excusing that.

I got that email and deleted it as spam. I felt a little betrayed.

I'm happy for you. Other paid members have reported receiving the spamage, so it was apparently not a valid recommendation in the first place. I truly hate spam and I'm in continual wonderment about how it could possibly be an effective method of advertising.

I assume that it was about that 'gut doctor' thing where they never really say what it is, it's not just here, that thing is internet legend and has been brought up here previously.

Logged on for the first time in ages just because I thought the site had been compromised and was sending spam emails.
