Univega date help?
I just found my stolen Univega, and want to know more about it now that we are reunited. I know little about bikes and bought it used, any way anyone can tell me more about what I have? I really want to know what year the frame was made. Its a Univega activa ST with serial number MOE 46666. From reading the forum I think the M means it was Miyata made...? Thank you for any help!

Amelia,
I think the M means 1985, but only if it were made by Miyata (and a lot of Univegas were made by Miyata). You could verify that by checking the date codes on the components. There are a few posts here about how to do that.
Good for you, recovering your stolen bike. Any story about that? We all like to hear stories with happy endings... Also, please post a picture (of the bike), it would help in verifying the date.

Assuming you transcribed the serial number correctly, it is NOT a Miyata manufactured frame. Given the model and serial number, my best guess would be 1990, however I'd need pics and/or a list of the brand and model of the major components to be certain. Alternately, you can check the components date codes as suggested. Refer to the components page of the Vintage-Trek website for locating and decyphering the codes. Assuming I'm right about the era, it's probably Taiwanese.

I am glad to here you are reunited too. I agree with Tmar an Activa ST was a hybrid (geez I want to black with red/gold graphics?) that would be a '90 at the earliest.
what kind of shape was she in?
