Info on Miyata 310

I found one I am interested in, on CL. Decent shape and all, however, I know very little about Miyata brand models. Price is ok at $200, I am more interested in where it stands in product line. I have a pink 912 as a Christmas gift fr daughter in law, so I know it's a semi pro road bike. Any info on 310 is appreciated.

310 frame is a nice rider, I have one. However entry level components position it on the lower end of the Miyata lineup. A 912 is on the high end of the lineup.

These are on the low end of the spectrum for Miyata's but are very nice bikes and ride good. Lesser components and Magnalite frame which are light and ride good put it on the low end if the wheels are decent and everything is good $200 is not a unreasnable price but $150 would be more like it for this bike.

The Miyata 310 was manufactured from 1980-1986 inclusive, after which was redesignated 312. Due to a constantly changing product line, it not possible give a definitive position in the line up. However it was was typically at the bottom of Miyata's mid-range series, two models down from a 912 model. Basically it sat near the cusp between entry level and midrange. Which side it belonged on, depended on you viewpoint.

The specifications varied over the years too. Early models were aSunTour/Sugino/Dia-Compe mix with a butted CrMo main frame mated to hi-tensile forks and stays. In 1983 they switched to Shimano 105 derailleurs and an SR crankset. 1984 saw the switch to Shimano Z-series brakes. In 1985 the fork was upgraded to a carbon-manganese (Mangalight) fork. In 1986 the wheels were upgraded to 700C. The last, 1986 model, is the most desirable and about 2 lbs lighter than the earliest versions.

Thanks, y'all. The group on this one is a mix of Suntour and Sugino.
