Like new Miyata Alumitech 6300
I'm looking into buying a road bike, but don't want to spend too much money. I found this bike on ebay, and was hoping someone who knows more about bikes could tell me how much they think it's worth/if it's a good buy. Thanks!

It seem's rather high to me.
Aluminum bikes from that era don't get much love from cyclists. However, I really like them and the first road bike I bought when I returned to cycling was a Miyata 1400AlumiTech model, and I still have it and love it. It's really a nice rider, pretty agile and light to and other riders seem to like it to. So I'm partial to the AlumiTechs. This one your looking at is quite nice, looks original and is in great condition, however it looks to me like the bars are crooked as well as the saddle. Probably nothing to be overly concerned about, but might be worth asking why. Also, the Shimano group, while original and clean and works well enough, is nothing really special. And he replaced the tires after only 50 miles? Why? These bikes are bonded, meaning the tubes are basically glued together. I haven't seen any problems at all on mine after a few years of hard urban riding, and I wouldn't suspect a problem on a low mileage bike like this, but you could ask if the joints are still tight and "bonded".
Nice bike, but I would put the price more at $350 and that's because of it's nice condition...

25 year old bike + never used = will need thorough and complete maintenance: all bearings, grease, cables, housings, brake pads.
+1 Those are Shimano Light Action components, which are low end and stamped steel. Fine for a $250 bike, not for $450.

I sold a Mangusta 5000, which uses the exact same frame as that bike but has nicer components, for $250. That Miyata is a more well known brand, but even so, I'd say the absolute top end of its value would be $250.

I agree it looks like a nice little used bike but the price seems high for the level of components. Is that a TreTubi Aluminum with a steal rear triangle? The pics of the RD looked like a steel dropout. bkCLoBR3CCV8!Uw~~60_57.JPG)

You got it BG, it is a tretubi aluminum frame. I never thought of it that way though! I always considered it an aluminum bike with steel alloy fork and stays. The steel really gives this bike a steel-like ride, not at all harsh like some all-aluminum bikes.

The price seems fairly high close to six hundred with shipping. In most markets you can find similar bikes in the $200-300 price range.
