I don't understand why people around these parts (NE Ohio) enjoy fall so much. It's rainy and cold and crappy and terrible for bike riding. Starting to seriously wonder whether I'll get 100 this month.

Soaking wet pavement and lots of wet leaves, but I won't be able to ride again until Saturday so I really wanted to get this ride in. The Conti tires performed well, I moved along at my usual dry road pace with confidence.

October Goal: 150 miles

10/3 - 16.1 miles (Trek)
10/10 - 26.8 miles (Giant - rental bike) Monon Trail - Indianapolis/Carmel, Indiana
10/12 - 12.1 miles (Trek)
10/14 - 23.1 miles (Trek)
10/15 - 17.2 miles (Trek)
10/18 - 4.6 miles (Fuji) - test ride! FINALLY got the Fuji back from the shop!

Big news today, for me at least - times 3:
1. I got the Fuji back from the bike shop and it's finally right! The bike shop had screwed things up the first two times I went to pick it up. I'm DONE with that shop - but at least the Fuji is "good as new".
2. I found a really good deal on a mint 2019 Trek FX2, and my wife bought it for me as a combined birthday and Christmas present!
3. I only need 25 more miles to have 10,000 total miles since I started back riding in July 2017.

October to date: 99.9 miles

2022 total to date: 1119.3 miles
2022 Goal: 1,500 miles ( was 2,500 miles once upon a time... )

All my miles are outdoor miles on one of these bikes (unless otherwise noted): 2019 Trek FX2 --- 2011 Fuji Absolute 3.0 --- 1997 Trek 830 (converted to hybrid)

Since my last post have been super busy. Due to fatigue chose the shorter workout #6 and at a lower intensity level than 100% still logged 8.55 miles on 10-7.

Took 10-8 as a rest day, busy setting up and slaughtering two hogs, first thing in the morning through my lower back out so spent a bit of time working it back into place.

Final day for Zwift Acadamy was 10-9 so did the finish line ride. Improved on 2 of 3 segments with a much faster overall time so it was in the win column. +16.88 miles. Plan was to butcher the hogs but they had not cooled enough so had to put that off.

10th through 17th, dealing with butchering, sausage making, bacon and ham curing.

10-18 broke out of my rest break to ride 31.05 miles at a good pace.

Might just make my goal by end of month.

MTD 111.6 miles
goal 250

I've gotten behind pace. Damaged a carbon wheel on the Creo, either by hitting a pothole (killed the tire), or more accurately, I believe by trying to put on a 28mm GP5000TL tire that I had laying around. A 28mm tire is *supposed* to fit these 25mm rims, but it was *extremely* tight. Ruined a Park tools plastic tire lever in the process. The wheel is getting warrantied, and I hope to have it back in about in a few days. One week seems like pretty great service for a warranty claim these days. The Roubaix needed so love, and we had a cold snap so my time on the bike has really suffered. Got my first couple of rides on Zwift for the season, but only after fighting a software problem with Zwift. Hopefully they have a fix soon.

About 6 miles on Friday for my first ride of the month.

Saturday I combined trains and bikes for an 84 mile overnight camping trip despite a coastal storm on Sunday. I was reduced to 4 mph going over a couple of the bridges and 8 mph at times on the flats, but it was worth it.

A little early for vibrant colors in S. Jersey. This coming weekend those blueberry bushes in the first photo should be a cool shade of red.

I gave up on the bicycle shop from hell, and took the Fuji to another bike shop that has a sterling reputation... but is over 50 miles away! I'm hoping to pick it up tomorrow.

2022 Goal: 1,500 miles ( was 2,500 miles once upon a time... )

The sun shines, the sky is blue, the flowers bloom, the birds sing...! My Fuji Absolute 3.0 is BACK and as good as new! I've put 37.6 miles on it in the two days since I got it back to make sure it's right this time! BIG THANKS to Bicycle, Toy & Hobby Shop in High Point, NC! THEY ROCK! This was my first repair experience with them, but even though they are more than an hour away, it's definitely worth the trip! On top of the great repairs, awesome customer service and quick turnaround, they were also reasonably priced.
