100mm travel fork recommendations?
Hi all, I’m looking to upgrade my 29er e-hardtail.
the current coil shock is pretty rubbish.
I’m thinking an air suspension fork would be an upgrade, I assume that I need to stick with 100mm of travel to keep the geometry the same.
Typical use would be bumpy trails and fast descents. No jumps, I’m too old and talentless for that.
thanks in advance for any suggestions, I’m in no way an expert so just act like you’re communicating with a small dull child.

We would need to know axle to crown and what sort of fork you need say like tapered or threaded, 1", 1 1/8", axle type...
Travel is not super important I swapped from a 100mm fork to a 140 because the A2C is actually the same or very very close (within a few millimeters). I would recommend looking at the Fox AWL fork assuming it fits your frame as it was designed for e-bikes and has some future proofing built in with the Bosch ABS mounts. I personally went all out only because I love Kashima coating and got the Fox Factory 36E also knowing that my fender mounting would work as Riese and Müller use fenders and Fox forks on some of their builds and had the needed mounting hardware available.

Depends a lot on the level of your bike and your budget
Good bikes now all have 110mm spaced thru axle hubs, tapered steerers, and disk brakes. You can buy forks for these at all levels.
Forks for 100 spaced, QR axle, rim brake bikes are not very good.
Functional forks start at >$200 and really good forks >$500. Premium forks $1000 and up

If it's a Suntour spring fork, look at the Suntour upgrade program. You can upgrade to an air fork fairly inexpensively and they can talk you through fit etc. Not saying they are the greatest, but we are not doing jumps, drops or such so we don't need anything crazy and did that route. I have a Rockshox Recon on my bike and doubt I will ever push it. I'm 43 and haven't hit a jump since I was 12. Our trails have a few roots and rocks but are mostly hills and cutbacks. Nothing that's going to tax the fork component, just my cardio, lol.

I have a Manitou Markhor (100 mm, straight steer tube) on a 15 or so year old Niner and it has functioned perfectly (cross country) for two years. The cost was about $225 plus tax.
