Addiction 2022.2

Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

We have taken our daughter out to eat with us since she was an infant. She’s always been golden, never one to cry, scream, throw food, run away…. etc

Tonight, she was a nightmare. We went to crackel barrel and there wasn’t any kind of wait. The server went to seat us and she immediately ran back into the shop. I asked her to come, and she screamed NOOOOOO with such vocals the whole restaurant stopped talking. I picked her up at this point and brought her to the table, but now she’s screaming and crying.

I’ve never been so embarrassed and at a complete loss. I still have no idea what caused this or anything. She has never done anything remotely close to this.

The server grabbed a basket of biscuits and put it in front of her and she stopped screaming long enough to politely ask him for black berry jam.

No sunburn. I use pure zinc oxide when on the bike. Works great. Thursday morning I will ride back home, from a beach town further East. A route I much prefer.
No pics???

I got 43 miles in I think. Latte and strawberry rhubarb crostata at the midpoint. And stood under this thing for a minute:

Does that weird thing you are standing under have anything to do with PF Cheng?

Sounds like normal parenthood to me.

I agree, but first time I really had no idea what to do.
Still don’t know what or why or how. We got home and I tried to talk to her and she just acted like nothing happened and everything was fine.

Tonight at rehearsal we spent a good chunk of time (20+ minutes) working on an Ellington arrangement.

Then, at the end he told us, never mind, we're going to do a re-run from last concert instead. Sigh.

On the way home I stopped at the gas station. There was a van on the other side of the pump, and another pump beyond that.

I was minding my own business, looking down at the machine as it processed the card. In the background I hear a louder vehicle, like a monster truck, pulling under the roof.

All of a sudden, "BAMSSSSSSS." The monster truck was actually a tractor-trailer (minus the trailer), and it hit the air brakes.

What on earth was it doing at the Walmart grocery store gas station? It barely fit under the roof. I about had cardiac arrest.

I liked Bloomfield in The Electric Flag and I have 2 Jews Blues with Barry Goldberg. Kooper wrote "This Diamond Ring" which was a gold record for Gary Lewis and the Playboys.
Kooper also formed the original Blood, Sweat, and Tears and was the lead vocalist.

I worked at a shyster used car lot and some gas stations and eventually was partners in a garage with another alcoholic. He went to a new car dealer after we closed and I didn't end up at a new car dealer until 1989.

Got home yesterday afternoon and was relaxing on the back deck with the cat. The kid two doors down started throwing a tantrum, screaming “I don’t want to go outside!” (She was already outside.) This went on for a good 5 minutes until who I think was a nanny brought her back in. It was odd because both their kids are usually well behaved. I am pretty sure it was a nanny because the adult had a European accent.

Another couple whose house looked onto mine had a kid who would often throw tantrums in the morning. I used to think about what dealing with that most mornings would be like while enjoying my morning coffee. They moved maybe a year ago.
