This is my son's bike (he's now 15). Last year he outgrew a 24" road bike and the used bike market sucks - I wasn't dropping 500-1000 bucks for a used up piece of crap, so I found the frameset on ebay pretty cheap. Upgraded his 10 speed stuff to 11 speed rival w/ spare parts and he got the extra set of fse wheels I had laying around as a back up (with carbon-ti hubs - lucky for him). I guess if he's gonna ride w/ me he needs a bike to keep up. We just rode the 50 mi route for the Roe Jan Ramble. The steerer tube has been cut. Of course he's grown, now needs a longer setback post and the stem is already 2-3 cm longer.

Not a shot. He's riding time xpresso pedals - actually, they're the mavic version, my old set, equivalent to xpresso 12's.

My latest build is complete. Will put full specs in my build thread but here’s the money shot.
2001 Cannondale R1000, retrofitted with full 105 R7000 except the crank which is 5800 because I already had it in my parts bin. Weight with pedals & cages: 18.1 pounds.

Thanks! I'm super stoked about it. I searched for that exact frame & colorway for about 2.5 years (and in my smaller size it was so hard). I wasn't sure I'd love the yellow stripes on the tires but it's OK - will probably stick with normal all black tires when these wear out. Don't think I'll do skinwalls either.

Nice-looking bike! Is that saddle comfortable? If not, I think a S-Works [red] Phenom or Power saddle would really complete the look.

People always ask me about the full carbon shell saddles and after riding various saddles I've grown to really like them. Mainly because I tend to shift my ride position quite often and the hard shell allows me to slide back-n-forth quickly with no friction. Also when I hit bumps, I always stand on my pedals to absorb the shock and to also maintain better balance. When sitting it feels quite comfortable for me.

Awhile back I picked up the red magnesium pedals on discount and it's slowly forced me to add pops of red throughout the frame for the sake of fashion!

It’s been a long time since I’ve posted here - life has a funny way of distracting you from things you enjoy, but I’m finally back on the bike seriously and am in full training mode for a tri next year. Anyway, here are my 2 rides. The Marvel is my “daily” that I bought new years ago. The Dogma I bought used years ago too and if I had to go down to 1 bike, the Dogma would be an easy choice.

The Marvel has mechanical Ultegra 6800 - I often think about converting to 6870 but can’t justify the cost of doing so. The Dogma has Super Record.

No camera tricks - they are completely different bikes. I ride the Marvel for longer rides (20-30+ mi). Most rides nowadays really. The Dogma doesn’t see much use anymore, but I try to take it for a quick spin weekly or every other week. My body can’t be in that position for any appreciable distance/time anymore.

Frame color scheme reminds of Renault-Elf-Gitane team and Bernard Hinault, Laurent Fignon, Greg Lemond.

It weighs light, it rides light and fast.
It helps old cyclists like me.

Needs SPD-SL pedals but pretty close to perfect. Very clean condition.

I love Dura ace 7700 and 25th anniversary set.
I didn't meant to build a Mapei replica bike, but it is, lol.

I wanted red, ad11, in 2020, but Colnago didn't make it.
When I saw lx21 Mapei in a bike shop, hmmm, it was very beautifully sprayed, better than expected.
Now lx21 Mapei is a favorite color scheme.

It's been the Holy Grail since 1975, when I was a high school boy.

We Japanese cyclists feel Eddy Merckx very familiar, at least old guys like me.
Miyata had been making Eddy Merckx 1973 to 1976.
And Yoshiaki Nagasawa was working with Ugo De Rosa those days, and building frames for Eddy himself and his team members.

The first Japanese who bought De Rosa bikes back to Japan are Akira Yokoo, owner and president of Cycles Yokoo, and president of Nitto handle.
It was 1972.
And Akira Yokoo and Ugo De Rosa were born in the same year, 1934, wow!

1976, TBS, a major TV station, did a miracle.
Broadcasted 1975 Tour de France highlight, an hour program!
Road cycling was an extremely unpopular and minor sport those days in Japan.
Watching Tour de France on TV was incredible for me.
The first thought was just, "No Fxxxing Way"!
I watched The King riding an orange bike with his name on it.
"I WANT IT! I'LL GET SOMEDAY", I vowed.

The famous, or notorious?, Puy de Dome incident was cut.

But it took long years, 47 years, to fullfill my vow.
I've got a used Corsa Extra Molteni orange this year, 2022.
Hmmm, so they call cyclists like me NUT.
