Hi, thanks for the links! I have been tracking ebay for weeks, but sadly haven't found a match yet. As for my work, I don't generally deal with materials this recent (most of my artifacts are 11th-17th C African materials) and it's the first time I've come across a bike part, so I thought perhaps given the wealth of knowledge and expertise in this forum somebody may recognise it or have some clues as to where/who could identify it, but that's it, I would never expect forum members to go beyond that. Apologies if it wasn't clear.

s.canos Based on my limited experience, there are some very knowledgeable people on tontonvelo.com. Unfortunately, it appears their forums are down at the moment.

Close indeed, many thanks! The 'windows' are not quite right but the overall shape is very similar. Is that also a Lyotard or another brand?

Lyotard model catalogue page of 1977 -

models 77 R and 25 R bear a modest resemblance to the subject item

possible it may have been an earlier edition of one or the other...

from what can be seen in images provided it appears the piece may date from the interwar period

Lyotard catalogue pages of 1936-1937 -

Brown Brothers, London catalogue page of ca. 1940 -

another french pedal producer active at this era was Brampton of France; here is an advert from the firm dated 1926 -

---

another frankish pedal marque seldom thought of is the Eclair

---

wrt the Tonton forum -

they presently have a notice up that they expect to be back up and running on March 27

one can always have a go at looking at the site through the internet archive archive.org
